Cesc Fabregas has dedicated Spain’s Euro 2008 success to Arsenal fans and told them he wants to repeat his international glory at club level - by winning trophies in style.

The 21-year-old midfielder hailed Spain’s victory over Germany on Sunday evening as a triumph for “beautiful football”, after going three years without silverware in domestic competition.

There are similarities between Spain and Arsenal in their passing approach but Arsene Wenger’s men tailed away after Christmas last season and ended empty-handed despite being looking poised to get something from their campaign.

Fabregas still earned PFA Young Player of the Year for his efforts and in Vienna helped his country end their run of 44 years since winning their last major tournament.

“Of course, that was the happiest day of my life as a professional footballer,” said Fabregas.

“It was also for the Arsenal fans that have been suffering a lot this year. For them, at least one player has won something. It is for them.”

The midfielder’s enthusiasm for the Gunners cause will be welcome news for his manager Arsene Wenger, who is facing a fight to keep star striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

Spain capped a thrilling tournament by defeating Germany with the entertaining football that had seen them win their five previous matches at the finals.

“I haven’t seen for a long time a team playing such nice football, playing the ball around and playing beautiful football and get a trophy as big as that,” Fabregas said.

“Now at Arsenal we have more or less the same quality of game so hopefully the football will also get better and better for Arsenal.”

Fabregas had suffered defeat in a final before, in the Champions League where they lost to Barcelona two years ago, and he added:

“Does it make up for Paris? Definitely. I can see there is a massive difference between losing and winning in a final.

“Even if they say being a finalist is important, there is no way you can replace the feeling of winning.

“Now next year I want to win trophies with Arsenal, this is my target.
I finally made something at a young age, I never expected it to be with Spain. Now I want to do it with Arsenal.

“It’s the second trophy - I have an FA Cup. But of course a European Championship is not the same.”

Fernando Torres grabbed the winner at Ernst Happel Stadium and Fabregas believes Spain can now focus on winning the World Cup in South Africa in two years’ time.

“We are very young and of course now we will go for the World Cup,” the Arsenal midfielder added.

“Yes, Fernando can be one of the best. He is all about the team and not the individual performance. I told him it would be his game and he got that goal.”

Spain have often been regarded as a team that lacked unity, with strong regional differences undermining their cause. In this regard, Euro 2008 could prove to be a symbolic as well a purely footballing victory. The idea that it is OK to be Spanish as well as, say, Catalan.

Time will tell if that feeling lasts, but there is no doubt Spain are worthy winners of Euro 2008.

Aaron Ramsey is set to mix it with the best in Europe for a high-profile Arsenal home debut.

The former Cardiff City starlet – who has been handed Mathieu Flamini’s No 16 Arsenal shirt – has been pencilled in for an Emirates Stadium debut against European giants Real Madrid and Juventus.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger wants to see Ramsey tested by top-class opponents as soon as possible and is likely to give him a run-out in the pre-season Emirates Cup on the first weekend of August.

That means Ramsey could cross swords with the likes of Madrid trio Ruud van Nistelrooy, Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben – the Dutch trio who the uncapped 17-year-old saw tear Wales apart from his place on the bench in a Rotterdam friendly last month.

Ramsey could even line up against Cristiano Ronaldo if the Manchester United winger completes a world record transfer before then.

Arsenal host Real on August 3, 24 hours after meeting Juventus who are likely to include Alessandro del Piero, Gianluigi Buffon and David Trezeguet.

Wenger has already hinted Ramsey may have a significant part to play this season by handing the shirt vacated by Flamini’s summer move to AC Milan.

But Cardiff star Riccy Scimeca has warned that Ramsey may have to wait for his chance at the Emirates.

“Aaron will soon find that every pass he delivers will have to be near perfect,” said Scimeca, who graced the Premier League with Aston Villa, Leicester City and West Brom.

“He might have to be a bit patient to break through, but there is no doubt that he has got special talent.”

Newly-signed Southampton recruit Morgan Schneiderlin will ‘gain experience’ with the Championship club before joining Arsenal in a ‘few seasons’ time according to Strasbourg’s supporters club.

The 18-year-old completed his move to the Saints from Ligue 1 side Strasbourg for a reported fee of €1.5 million just 3 days ago.

Schneirderlin also made a reference to Arsenal when questioned about his move to Southampton, citing the example of Theo Walcott and his rise through the Southampton ranks before a switch to Arsenal.

“Here you do not have to wait until a certain age in order to play. If you are good enough then you will play and that is important to me.”

Reports in France though, suggest that the France Under-18 international is set to join up with Arséne Wenger’s side once he’s formed ‘a mental and physical experience’ playing several seasons at St Mary’s.

This news comes as Werder Bremen fringe player Amaury Bischoff claimed he is set to sign for Arsenal in a few days time.

Schneiderlin has represented his country at under-16, under-17, under-18 and under-19 levels, and has also captained the under-18 side.

Personally, this deal sounds a bit strange as surely Schneiderlin’s price tag will only go up after several seasons experience at Southampton? It could certainly be true though, with a possible clause in the starlet’s contract making an Arsenal move permanent at a certain date.

What do you think? Is the deal completely made up? Or does it have something in it?

Reports emanating from France today suggest that Werder Bremen midfielder, Amaury Bischoff will be joining Arsenal in the coming days.

Based on the report, Arsenal have already contacted Werder Bremen and the 21-year-old midfielder six months ago and it seems that negotiations have gone on well to bring Amaury to the Emirates Stadium.

DNA interviewed Amaury Bischoff, who gave some details about his possible transfer to Arsenal:

“There remain still some details to be finalized. And then we have to wait especially the return of Arsene Wenger who is in Vienna for the Euro 2008 finals. But I hope to sign in the next few days.”

Amaury Bischoff is of mixed parentage (his father is French while his mother is Portuguese). He has represented France Under 18s but opted to represent his mother’s country of origin for the Portugal Under 21s. And for the next level, Amaury has decided to stick with Portugal, hoping that he’ll be in national team in the very near future.

In the interview, Amaury told the newspaper that he feels that it is time to step up from playing in the reserves (with Werder Bremen) and move on to develop further. He also take the opportunity to talk about his experience with Werder Bremen, where he has learnt from the likes of famous Bundesliga players such as Diego, Frings, Micoud and Klasnic.

Bischoff can play across midfield, preferably as an offensive midfielder but is capable of playing on the right hand side. He has been compared to Lyon midfielder Jérémy Toulalan for his tough tackling, no nonsense approach to the game. Others feel he’s more of a box to box midfield player. One thing’s for sure, Amaury Bischoff is certainly one to look out for in the future.

Arsene Wenger has insisted he will not meet Emmanuel Adebayor next week for talks on the striker’s future at Arsenal.

The Gunners boss is adamant the Togo international will still be at the Emirates Stadium next season and said he does not plan any further talks.

AC Milan are pursuing the striker and Adebayor claimed on Friday he will meet Wenger next week before deciding on his future - he is demanding a pay rise to a reported £120,000 a week.

But Wenger said he already met Adebayor some time ago and has no plans to meet him again.

The Arsenal manager said:

“He’s under contract and that’s quite simple. I can tell you as manager of Arsenal FC I’m not worried.

“Of course I expect him to be at Arsenal next season - he’s under contract.”

When Asked if he was going to meet the striker next week, Wenger replied: “No - I’ve already met him.”

The total cost of Adebayor looks likely to amount to a transfer record for the Italian side as they look to rebuild in the hope of a Scudetto challenge next term.

New Arsenal signing Aaron Ramsey has received a surprise good luck message as he begins his Ashburton Grove career.

The £5million midfield starlet became the Gunners’ first summer signing earlier this month when he joined from Championships side Cardiff City.

Ramsey, 17, rejected offers from Premier League champions Manchester United and David Moyes’ Everton in favour of a move to North London.

But it could have been oh so different for the talented teenager.

Only 18 months ago, Ramsey was spotted playing rugby league for his school by scouts from St Helens.

The Super League club offered him the chance to start a professional career with them.

Ramsey though, had already decided his future was in football and chose to stick with Cardiff.

It was a decision that paid off for the gifted Welsh midfielder.

Just months later, he became the second-youngest player to feature in an FA Cup final when the Bluebirds lost to Portsmouth at Wembley.

An international call-up for Wales followed before the Premier League’s top teams queued up for his signature.

St Helens and England rugby league star Jon Wilkin hopes Ramsey makes a success of his time at Arsenal.

The forward, 24, said:

“It sounds like he’s a very talented guy and I wish him all the best.

“Potentially he’s going to benefit financially from choosing football over rugby league.

“But for him the main thing is that he has to be doing what he enjoys the most.

“If football is the game he likes then he has definitely made the right decision.

Wilkin also touched on why he’d like to see more money go back into the rugby league game, but admitted it will be very hard to compete to
attract the sort of big-names you could sign in today’s current football game.

“Obviously it would have been great for him to come in to rugby league but that’s one of the challenges we face in our sport.

“We would love to be able to attract the best players but sometimes it’s hard to compete with the money in football.”

Sticking to the same topic, Cardiff City vice-captain Riccardo Scimeca has urged his ex-team mate Aaron Ramsey to be patient in the Premier League, and warned of the pressures and expectancy of performing in one of the greatest competitions in the world. Read more about that over at Young Guns.

David Seaman has expressed his worry over continued speculation surrounding the future of Arsenal players, namely Emmanuel Adebayor.

The Arsenal goalkeeping legend believes there will not be a shortage of followers if the Togolese striker departs:

“There have been a couple of surprises in the people that have left and when you are looking at the squad, which is not the biggest in the world, it’s worrying.” He told the Mirror.

“Then, when you see the names bandied around that might leave it makes you worry more. Adebayor would be a massive loss. No-one knows who he is watching and then he just pulls one out of the hat and everyone says: ‘Where did he come from?’.”

Personally I am not worried about Adebayor as I believe he can be replaced. He scored 30 goals, works ever so hard but his attitude is in serious question.
Roque Santa Cruz and Daniel Guiza have both been mentioned as possible replacements. So far its just mere speculation but I would rather Arsenal go all out for Santa Cruz as he has deceptive pace, a composed finisher, good in the air and most important of all is a proven premiership striker.

With the quality of Arsenal’s service into the front men there is no doubt he would net more than the 19 Premier League goals than he did for Blackburn last season.
