Hoyte: I’m Still In Wenger’s Plans

July 6, 2008

Justin Hoyte has ruled out a potential move to Aston Villa because he remains in the plans of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger for next season.

The 23-year-old started only two Premier League games last season and has been linked with a number of moves, most frequently to Villa Park.

“There are rumours every day but I am contracted to Arsenal,” said Hoyte.

“The boss has said great things about me, has good plans for me and I need to show him what I am capable of.”

It is understood Arsenal recently rejected a bid from Aston Villa for the England Under-21 international, who has attracted plenty of interest in the loan market.

Arséne Wenger was praising the versatile defender in early January and firmly believes that Hoyte has a big future at the Emirates.

Wenger said:

“Justin is a player that has improved tremendously.

“I have big respect for Justin because he is a player that does not talk too much, but every time I play him he is quality.

“Technically he is very good – but as well he is very versatile and quick on the turn which is a great quality for a centre-back.

“He is good in the air even if he is small and overall I refuse categorically to give him up.”

Hoyte has been with Arsenal since he was 11 years old, making his way up through the academy, youth and reserve teams, a massive Gooner himself, the Londoner will be looking to challenge Bacary Sagna for the right back spot next season.

Think this will be his final season at the club unless he forces his way into the starting line up.

  6. Gooner Chris Says:

Agree mate, he would get a starting place and so much more playing time if he left for another mid table or championship side. It’ll be interesting to see how Wenger is going to use him through this season.

What is everyone’s veiws on todays news that wenger has finally admitited himself that we are a SELLING CLUB & we will sell one of our good players every year to pay our debts??

Ive known we are a selling club for the past few years after selling vieira we have sold one of our top players every year after but now hearing him come out with it has really put the final nail in the coffin for me after all the lies theyve been feeding us about wenger having as much money as he needs was all bullshit..

Its really bad news to hear for the next 10yrs or so we will have to be like this, i would have rather us stay at highbury if i knew we were going to have to be in this position. :(

  9. Gooner Chris Says:

I think its rubbish mate and the fact that it came from NOTW makes it even more unreliable.

  10. Ricky Says:

I hope your right chris mate…

We are a selling club in a way though mate..
