Arsenal play away to Barnet tomorrow afternoon in a match which should give most Gooners a breather from the continuous transfer rumours and gossip that has been on show this summer.
Barnet, who ply their trade in League 2, are likely to prove stern opposition for an Arsenal side who have been in pre-season training for less than a week.
In the previous fixture last year Arséne Wenger’s side won by two goals to nil, Emmanuel Adebayor and Nacer Barazite guiding the Gunners’ to a comfortable result at Underhill.
Ahead of the game, ‘Bees’ boss Paul Fairclough has earmarked Dutch forward Barazite as a potential threat to his side, even comparing the youngster to want-away striker Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov.
Team News – Barnet
Fairclough will also have a full strength team to choose from with Arsenal fan Ismail Yakubu back to full fitness along with rugged midfielder Neal Bishop.
Trialists Justin Cochrane and defender Daniel Alowisi are set to be involved against Wenger’s giants, while ex-Arsenal striker Adam Birchall is another player likely to be included in Fairclough’s 24-man squad.
Left-back Kenny Gillet is looking forward to facing his pal and fellow fullback Gael Clichy, Kenny stayed with Gael when he first came to London to play for the Bees and they both went on holiday together this summer.
Predicted Starting XI
Harrison
Carew – Yakubu – Devera – Gillet
Adomah – Porter – Bishop – St Aimie
Akurang – Birchall
Team News – Arsenal
A whole host of well-known names are set to grace the Underhill pitch tomorrow afternoon, with the likes of Manuel Almunia, Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna, Denilson, Nicklas Bendtner and Theo Walcott all pencilled in to start.
Summer-signing Aaron Ramsey and Carlos Vela, who has returned to the north-London club following his loan spell in Spain, are both included.
Samir Nasri and Emmanuel Adebayor are not involved due to their extended holiday’s, but do return to training on Monday.
Francis Coquelin will be watching on at the sidelines at Underhill, sources close to Gooner Talk seem convinced he will play, we’ll of course find out more tomorrow.
Reserve & Youth stars such as Henri Lansbury, Paul Rodgers, Jay Simpson have been drafted into the squad and could get 45 minutes under their belt in the second half.
Predicted Arsenal XI
Almunia
Sagna – Nordtveit – J.Hoyte – Clichy
Walcott – Denilson – Ramsey- Traore
Bendtner – Vela
Match Prediction: Barnet 0-3 Arsenal
Predictions and views welcome in the comments section below.
Will Arsenal cruise past the League 2 minnows or could Barnet spring up a surprise against a much-changed Gunners’ side?

Looking forward to seeing the game on ATV 2moz makes recently signing up to Setanta worthwhile. Cant wait to see Ramsey and the youngsters play. Was watching ATV earlier and they said that they didnt think Vela would play tommorrow anyone know the reason why this may be the case?
July 18, 2008 at 8:52 pm
I heard about that as well mate, Vela is definitely in the squad, whether he starts or not is another matter.
July 18, 2008 at 8:56 pm
hopefully he will as he looks like a really good player an also i recently got my 12 Vela home shirt for the new season
July 18, 2008 at 8:58 pm
Ah cool, hopefully he’ll be scoring plenty of times in that number 12 shirt as well!
July 18, 2008 at 9:14 pm
Hopefully he looked like a great player when i saw him play for Osasuna against Real Madrid at the Bernbeau so hopefully he will show that kind of form at Arsenal. Im even more excited to see Nasri as he looks like an outstanding player and under Wenger he can only get better.
July 18, 2008 at 9:36 pm
K.Gillet is the best friend of Gael Clichy. They play both left back.
I was explained in a TV Show in France and Gael is hoping to play right winger so he would face his friend!

He’s due back Monday mate along with Nasri and RVP.
July 18, 2008 at 10:52 pm
Do u want him back?
July 18, 2008 at 10:57 pm
Its a bit of a strange situation, cause looked like he was a wanted man and then now it looks like he is in a bit of a loose end
July 18, 2008 at 11:15 pm
Kind of mate, its a bit like the Ronaldo situation tbh.
He has his mind set on a move, but he’ll have to say until the end of the season at least.

Check this out for hipocracy:
Spurs unsettle Bostock, Liverpool unsettle Keane and Barry, three years ago Chelsea unsettle Gerard, United unsettle Berbatov and Real unsettle Ronaldo……
Its a jungle out there, the higher you are in the food chain the safer
Bit cheeky United and Spurs complaining
He who has not sinned cast the first stone as they say
