Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has ruled out leaving the Emirates Stadium this summer and revealed he has agreed to sign a new contract with the Gunners.

The 24-year-old Togo international joined Arsenal in January 2006 and was outstanding last season, prompting interest from Barcelona and AC Milan.

Adebayor made it 100% clear where his heart is in an interview and didn’t even realise he was being linked with Europe’s elite until he came back from his holiday.

“Now I can tell everyone that, yes, I will sign a contract,” he said.

“I never told anyone I would be leaving this club, never ever. I’m very happy we’ve found a solution.”

“I have three years left on my contract and I’m putting two or three years more, so I’m very happy being part of this family.”

“I can say this on Arsenal TV, I can say this on Sky, I can say this on every TV station in the world - I never said I am going to leave Arsenal.”

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger signed Adebayor from Monaco, who he was in charge of between 1987-94, and the Togolese revealed his relationship with the Frenchman has never faltered since his move to London.

“When we started talking about my contract I never told him I’d be leaving this club and he knew my desire,” said Adebayor.

“My desire was to stay at this club so for me he’s like my father, he’s my boss so whatever he tells me I’ll do it, so our relationship at the moment is always strong.

“There is no doubt about that.”

Adebayor joined Arsenal in January 2006 from French side AS Monaco for a fee reported to be around the £3million mark.

Following Alex Song’s decision to take part in the Olympic games for Camerroon, Gooner Talk will be providing you with all the latest news, views and match reports showing how well the versatile midfield is progressing in Hong Kong.

Cameroon 0-2 Holland (Pre-Olympic Friendly):

Arsenal midfielder Song started and played 70 minute during Cameroon’s friendly slump over European giants Holland.

The weather in Hong Kong was sizzling at over 29C in the evening and effected both teams performances.

Song impressed in defensive midfield where he intercepted almost every pass that came his way and showed his calmness whilst playing the ball well under pressure.

With 25 minutes gone, the 21-year-old ran back to tackle Dutch forward Bakaal and stop an almost certain goal.

Half Time: Cameroon 0-0 Holland

As the second half got underway, both teams made a whole host of changes but Cameroon opted out of taking Song off after the Gunners’ star shone throughout the first half.

Little goalmouth action followed and in the 70th minute Song and Reading
defender Andre Bikey were substituted as Otto Pfister’s side looked to widen their attacking threat.

Cameroon’s defence was not the same without the two Premier League stars.

17 minutes later, Liverpool winger Ryan Babel cut inside the ‘Lions’ defence and made a probable win even more likely.

Roy Makaay made sure of the win in stoppage time when he struck a crisp shot past stranded keeper’ Kameni.

It was not to be for Cameroon, but Song himself can take plenty of postives out of a drab game and will be pleased with his own days work.

Arsenal will play Steve McClaren’s new side FC Twente after the UEFA Champions League third-round draw was made in Nyon today.

Arsène Wenger’s side face a tough test against the Dutch team who finished fourth in the Eredivisie last season.

The Tukkers recently sold star midfield Orlando Engelaar to German giants FC Schalke - a transfer which could mean they lack enough quality in the centre of the park.

FC Twente are currently rebuilding their stadium which means they will have to play the match in Vitesse Arnhem’s stadium - the Gelredome. It is a smart venue but questions hinder whether or not they can create the same vibe as their real home. (Thanks Mouhsin)

The first leg will be played in Holland on August 12th or 13th, while the second leg at the Emirates Stadium is scheduled for August 26 or 27th
