Gooner Talk can exclusively reveal the surprise inclusions for the upcoming LG Amsterdam Tournament this weekend.

Jack Wilshere, Kieran Gibbs and Mark Randall are the only other Reserve & Youth inclusions with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger opting to go for the ‘experienced youth’ rather than the up and coming academy stars.

Highly-rated Dutch forward Nacer Barazite, Henri Lansbury and Gavin Hoyte haven’t travelled with the squad to Holland despite putting in some quality displays during the Gunners’ Austria tour and last night’s tie against League 1 side Huddersfield.

Reported Arsenal targets Clement Chantome and Real Madrid’s Rubén de la Red are set to stay with their respective clubs despite the rumoured interest from north London.

Chantome, 20, is believed to of been watched by French-based scout Gilles Grimandi last season and Gunners boss Arsène Wenger is a known admirer of the France Under-21 international.

Paris-Saint Germain issued an emphatic statement on their website earlier this afternoon.

“PSG congratulate themselves to have extended the contract of Clement Chantome,” read a statement on the club’s official website.

The case is different with Madrid hard man de la Red though, who signed a 4-year contract with the Spanish champions last October, as Bernd Schuster isn’t keen on selling him and has already revealed that the 23-year-old could play a part in Real’s league campaign next season.

There is no doubt Wenger is on the look out for a central midfielder this summer,
but as the transfer window edges further and further to closure, the pressure put on him by certain segments of the Arsenal contingent continues to mount.

But of course, one question still looms - with our youngsters performing as they did last night against Huddersfield, does Wenger really need to step into the market for another player?

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was pleased at the test Huddersfield Town offered last night and admitted the game was a good workout for his young side before the Frenchman looks towards this weekends Amsterdam Tournament.

Stan Ternent’s physical team fought hard against the young Gunners who came back to win 2-1 in a 15 minute attacking display worthy of winning any match.

“It was a very interesting game, which was a good test for our young players,” the French manager explained.

“It was a very even game and Huddersfield defended well and were organised. We picked a young team and going 1-0 down would have been a mental test, so I am pleased they responded.

“It is very important that they can come back into games and that they don’t panic when they go behind. You have to keep your calm and play the way you want to. They will learn that from tonight’s game.

“This is the level that our reserve team should play at and that’s the kind of test we want.”

The Gunners side, who’s average age was 18, won their first trophy of the season - The Herbert Chapman Trophy, and Wenger himself realises how much the former Huddersfield and Arsenal boss did for his respective clubs.

“Herbert Chapman is the biggest legend at our club. He came to us from Huddersfield, so it seems only right than we could give them something back tonight.”

Arsene Wenger’s squad have their last chance to sharpen up this weekend as the inaugural Amsterdam Tournament gets underway in Holland.

It’s another pre-season trophy up for grabs which will see Cesc Fabregas return to the side with the likes of Carlos Vela, Nicklas Bendtner and Theo Walcott also included in the 26-man squad.

Ajax and Sevilla are the Gunners’ opponents, Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan team play against the latter two but are sadly not competing against former arch-rival Wenger and co.

Gooner Talk will have all the build-up towards both ties with Match Preview’s as well as Reports available straight after the Full Time whistle.
