FC Twente boss Steve McClaren has played down his sides chances of pulling off a shock win against Arsenal and he believes that the Gunners’ are the best footballing side in the Premier League.

The Gunners will travel to face the Dutch outfit in the first of two legs as red hot favourites, and McClaren concedes his side will have to produce something very special to win.

“They have Robin van Persie, Adebayor and Fabregas players who can score out of nothing. Especially with Van Persie, they have someone who’s fantastic in attack.”  McClaren told Twente’s official site

McClaren, 47, has had first-hand experience of the Gunners during his time with Middlesbrough and he knows what a dangerous threat Arsene Wenger’s men can pose.

“I know Arsenal well, they are the best footballing side in the Premier League on their day, and someone who can do you big damage,” he said.

“They are great footballing team. Arsene Wenger is building a dynasty and you have to be careful how you defend, all the team will have to defend very well to cause an upset.”

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger will be missing midfield maestro’s Cesc Fabregas (hamstring) and Samir Nasri (knee) as well as Kolo Toure (hip) and Abou Diaby (thigh). Summer signing from Cardiff City Aaaron Ramsey looks set to partner Denilson in central midfield while Johan Djourou passed a late fitness test after the Swiss international sustained a knock against Sevilla last Saturday.

It’s worrying times already for Arsenal and their fans and the season hasn’t kicked off yet! Tomorrow afternoon the Gunners’ kick off their Champions League campaign with a big-money qualifying game against Dutch side FC Twente. Arsene Wenger’s side are missing the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Abou Diaby, Kolo Toure and Samir Nasri with long-term injured Tomas Rosicky and Eduardo also out.

Steve McClaren must fancy his chances against Wenger’s men especially as Arsenal’s squad seems to be getting thinner and thinner by the week. Twente are not the only ones suffering problems of their own - Blaise Kufo - their top goal scorer from last season is suspended for the first leg, luckily for the Tukkers he’ll be back for the return game at Emirates.
