Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has been promoted to the England senior side after Head coach Fabio Capello selected him in a 23-man squad against the Czech Republic next Wednesday.

Walcott had originally been named in the England Under-21 squad but Stuart Pearce must now do without the Arsenal youngster.

Arsenal kicked off the new Premier League season with a hard-fought win against newly-promoted West Bromwich Albion.

French international Samir Nasri marked his debut with an early goal as well as a fine performance as the Gunners took all three points from a tight encounter.
