Man United’s Silvestre To Arsenal? Surely Not…
Arsenal have been linked with a whole host of players throughout the summer but one of the most unlikely names to have been mentioned is Manchester United’s defender Mikaël Silvestre.
The 31-year-old has played over 249 games for the Premier League and Champions League winners and the media have today linked him with a move to the club.
Silvestre was reportedly undergoing a medical at bitter neighbours Man City when his agent phoned him to say that Arsenal had an interest in him.
According to unreliable British newspaper The Sun, Mikaël immediately abandoned the medical and hurtled down the M1 to meet Gunners boss Wenger and discuss terms.
Would Arsene Wenger really go for an injury-prone defender who’s pay packet is expected to be as high as £50k? Or maybe somebody saw Gunners’ target Gokhan Inler go into Arsenal’s London Colney training ground and mistook him for lookalike Silvestre?!

might be worth a gamble for that money. If true it would give us much needed depth in defence as he can play all along th back four. If this is Wenger's signing he was talking about , I will be sooooooo annoyed at time. But if this is just a coup then I'm all for it!
How can you mistake inler for Silvestre?

i think youre just might be fitted into the DM role with silvestre and gallas CB. i just have that feeling, but still hope it was inler.

Basically it's off the Man Utd site and it shows The Sun's article and then gives it's own response. Now we all know The Sun is a pile of crap anyway, but the Man U site points out that, contrary to The Sun's report, Silvestre has not been granted a free transfer, it's still a year till it runs out, undermining the credability of the entire story.
well hes french so he would get along well with the rest of our back 4 and i also think hes better than senderous and djourou….
wouldn't be a bad signing and could mentor some of our younger defenders like traore…

Is it such a bad signing, we did sign gallas from the chesea scum. Guy has prem experience and is french so fits into our french speaking defence.
The more I think about it, the better does this signing sound. We need experience in all competitions, we need someone who can come into the team who hasnt just played youth football, he will be cheap and the only reason the guy does not play for United is because Evra is a great player. He wont provide much of an attacking threat but will provide us with a safe option. Troare aint the most reliable defender as he is attack minded
