Match Preview: Arsenal v Newcastle Utd (Premier League)
|Unbeaten Newcastle travel to the Emirates this weekend after a midweek Carling Cup extra-time win over Coventry. Confidence is growing on Tyneside with Kevin Keegan’s new signings making a big impression.
However, they should face an Arsenal side determined to get back on track in front of their own fans after a surprising 1-0 defeat at Fulham last weekend. Luckily for them, their recent home record against the Magpies is particularly strong.
Newcastle have recorded just one League win over the Gunners in the last 13 encounters. This run includes 7 defeats and 5 draws. However, the Gunners haven’t had it all their own way in recent League clashes as 3 of the last 4 matches have ended in draws.
Despite this, the Toon haven’t enjoyed too many trips to the red side of North London in recent times. They’ve lost 5 and drawn 1 of their last 6 visits whilst their last win was back in 2001. Shay Given is the only Newcastle survivor from that 3-1 win whilst none of the present Arsenal squad were involved. That win was the Magpies only away win against the Gunners in the last 11 years.
Arsenal Team News
Cesc Fabregas makes a welcome return into the starting line-up after his midweek exploits against FC Twente. Kolo Toure and Theo Walcott look set to brush off slight knocks sustained earlier in the week.
New signing Mikael Silvestre will not feature because of a thigh muscle strain, while Philippe Senderos has completed his move to AC Milan on loan.
Abou Diaby (thigh), Amaury Bischoff (groin), Tomas Rosicky (hamstring) and striker Eduardo (leg) remain in recovery.
Predicted Starting XI
Almunia
Sagna – Toure – Gallas – Clichy
Walcott – Fabregas – Denilson – Nasri
Adebayor – Van Persie

Arsenal 3-0 Newcastle
Nasri to score, don't know who else.
Does anyone know what wenger said about guzman or sighnings recently?
Wenger said he will rotate so i reckon the team will be: almunia, sagna djourou gallas clichy walcott fabregas song or ramsey nasri bendtner van persie
subs: adebayor toure denilson eboue fabianski
So he wont have rotated the team more apart from swapping Song and Denilson?
He's ruled out Guzman and he's said he wants to bring one more in and if he finds the suitable players possibly 2. His actual words were “We are out to look, if we find the right players we will do it, one or two.”

can see it being a tricky game, Newcastle have started ok, we aint on the best of form, a 4-0 win over a very poor Twente side papering over the previous two very poor performaces, that said hopefully we have got into the flow a bit now, 2-0
Play Song and Djourou and we will win with ease.
I hope the match prediction is correct, personally I would love to see that headline doubled.
Which, in Wengerspeak, means no chance.
Kolo Toure was not in the game against FC Twente and it was Gallas who got knock to the knee mate…
I expect a tough but entertaining match which we will win by 2-1. The goals will be scored by Adebayor and Nasri. The assists will be provided by RVP. I expect that Denilson will be dropped for Song or Eboué because Wenger will want more power in midfield against the strong Newcastle players.
I really hope Toure doesn't play because that would mean he plays with Gallas. Djourou has done more than enough to retain his place. Unfortunately i cant see Song starting only because we're home and tend to attack more. I'ld play:
Almunia
Sagna JD Gallas Clichy
Theo Cesc Song Nasri
Rvp Ade
Bendtner will score in a 2-1 or 3-1 win
Gallas and toure have played togather twice this season. And have conceded 3 goals.
Djourou and gallas have played 3 times this season. And have conceded 0
Why not put Toure as a DM and put
Sagna Djourou Gallas Clichy,
Would that work?
wenger has already said that he wont play toure in CDM as he thinks he doesnt have enough endurance for running from box to box. i reckon the team we be the one predicted in the match preview above
I Hope we will win The game Just to Get The confidence In The Team, Sure Nasri Could do some Damage Playing Behind Our Strikers, Up The Gunners.
By The way Has any Of You Guys Got an Idea If we are Having a Third Kit Though?
The last season away kit is our third kit this season.
Oh Okay Thanks Joe Todd.
4 arsene to make happy, i feel he should try song and fab in the center so my line up is
ALMU
SAGNA TOUREL[DJOUROU] GALLAS CLINCY
WALKOT FABREGAS SONG NASRI
RVP ADEBAYOR.
You cant spell for shit and that's a staring 12.
Chris can you get me tickets for the game against fenerbache please mate..
I think its on the 12th of sept.. or anybody else.. Would be very gratefull.
annoying me ever1 seems to think Song is the answer to our current central midfield problems. As Public Enemy would say Dont beleive the hype! I dont think he has ever had 90 minutes in the premirship in that position let alne been substited on for moe than 15 minutes in that position , he is slow, isnt the most comosed player. Wenger seems to just keep him in the squad as a back up player. I would rather have Eboue or Denilson. And as for Toure in that position, pleas Gooners do you guys actually watch our team play
Actually its a starting 11. Clearly he was suggesting either Toure or JD. Its nice how much of a cunt you were there though.
Song has played CDM for Cameroon and got rave reviews. He is a good passer too and didn't he play there for half a season at charlton on loan.
PS: wtf is wrong with you prefering Eboue there. Do you even watch him play? SERIOUSLY!
Currently we have to play Denilson as he is the only player that is a natural midfielder between Eboue, him and Song. Song may be able to play in that position in international, but thats because the pace is slower. Eboue could be used but his positional play is not good because that is not his position. Denilson is the best option but not an ideal one because he is still young and needs to gather more confidence, before he can start playing week in week out for 90 minutes. games like twente, carling cup FA cup, newly promoted sides are the best way for him
I think we will win 2-1, gooner Chris do you have a contact on hotmail?
I agree with jillu, The longer we play song & etc the futher down we will be finishing every season..
Song, denilson, diaby have not shown anyone that they are the players we are missing, they have all had a fair chance & non have seemed to convince anyone or there wouldnt be so many fans critisising..
Players like vieira, petit & even gilberto after he got used to playing in the epl were never doubted & that was purely because they performed well nine times out o ten & even cesc never needed so much time to get accustomed to the english game so if you ask me i think people are more hoping that denilson, song & diaby come through but they have all had a fair chance & imo will never be what we consider as a proper arsenal midfielder.
like i said Stu, dont beleive the hype, Song is no way capable of playing central midfield for 90 minutes in the premiership. Wenger has hardly even used him in that posn, because he aint good enough. Trust me Eboue is a better option i hate to say it
As far as im concerned denilson is the only one who has had a proper chance in CM. I don't ever remember Song getting a few games there and as for Diaby, he payed LM last year. In 05-06, Diaby's 1st season, played centrally and was excellent until he was assaulted by Dan Smith.
I still want a new signing but don't write off those who havn't failed yet.
arsenal 3-1 trust me.
Im hoping that Wilshere may well make his debut 2day as Wenger said the same squad would take part today but that he would rotate the team abit i'd like to see this team out:
Almunia
Sagna Toure Djourou Clichy
Wilshere Ramsey Fabregas Nasri
Adebayor Bendtner
I don't know any of the injury news or anything like that and i'ld like to see vela and Nikki b to be reunited. Rvp & Ade havn't been working so far. Can't remember what the squad was but i'ld like to see this:
Almunia
Sagna Toure/Gallas JD Clichy
Wilshere Song Cesc Nasri
Vela Bendtner
Bendtner will defo score either as a starter or sub, especially with Cesc back. Mark my words
Unfortunately Wenger will probably bring Toure back next to Gallas and we will concede.
Eboue will definitely play. Denilson is ever present so may miss out for Song. Toure is back which is a shame as Djourou hasn't let a goal in yet.

Good stuff so far, the fans are happy 😀
Denilson still making a full stray passes here and there, but he's running like a mad dog right now. At least he's commited.
RvP finally scores 😀 And twice.
The only thing we lack is Nasri scoring.
some one take a look at this guys wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerlon_Moura_Souza
it says that he is going to join arsenal in a 7 year deal is any of that true? i hope it is
