Wenger Won't Buy Or Sell On Deadline Day!?

Arsene Wenger told Sky Sports News that he has no interest in letting any more players leave the club and won’t recruit any more bodies into the paper-thin Arsenal squad before deadline day ends in the next 4 hours.

The 58-year-old Frenchman was speaking before the Arsenal Reserve side took on Chelsea at Undehill – a fixture that Wenger was in Barnet to watch.

When asked if he was buying anyone Wenger gave a straight-up answer:

“No”

The Sky Sports News reporter immediately questioned if there was going to be any players leaving the club, Wenger replied:

“No, I’ve got to go I’m really busy”

Many Arsenal fans have witnessed Wenger sealing last minute deals in the past, with the likes of William Gallas and Julio Baptista putting pen to paper during the closing hours of transfer deadline day.

We will see if Wenger sticks to his words, but as I said above, Arsenal are renowned for doing their business extremely late.

the position next to cesc is worrying me alot. denilson isnt top notch and diaby is never fit and when he is he gives the ball away to easily. we just dont have a top notch partner for cesc anymore….unless we hear of a new signing that is…

ricky, i agree when you consider that arsene obviously doesnt trust song as a dm,the only candidate in the 3 built to play the role against the hardest, diaby a player who has hardly played there or two games without injury ,and denilson, now get this clear i am not abusin no players, they do what they are asked to the best of their ability, if it all goes wrong and we dont put in a challenge i can see cesc fabregas demanding a 200k a week to stay next season, i dont blame him, great midfielder but cant fulfil potential due to weaker midfield partner , i love arsene but i think he has lost his guts in the market, his job is to provide a winning team, not grow one, someone in power should warn him he made his choice not to spend and let both insurance policies (gilberto and diaby) ,good luck arsene and the boys!

It seems that AW is now happy to only play beautiful football. What the fuck is the point of playing the best football in the world is you have fuck all to show for it. Wenger is resting on his laurels. Another disappointing transfer window has come and gone with little good happening for the club.

It is one thing to slowly rebuild a title challenging team but buying 1 good player(nasri) and letting 3 leave(bert, Hleb, Matt) is a completely different thing. Its kinda hard to challenge for honours when som of your most important players go.

we made a bid for alonso last night. u dont have to sign someone within the window but just have a bid accepted and permission to talk. it was £14 million and probably accepted. that means we could sign alonso at any time.

  22. Ben says:

they were talking about it on sky sports news last night, all u need is a bid accepted and to fax paperwork to the fa confirming it. this means contract terms, the medical and the contract signing can happen after as long as u have permission to talk to the player.

i dont think people being angry with wenger for not signing someone makes them disloyal…surely it shows how much they care about what happens to the club and the team..after all its ARSENAL FC not ARSENE FC.

Arsenal fail in last minute Alonso bid
    Tuesday 02 September 2008 – 10:54:16 – Click to post or view

Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger was always going to leave it to the last minute to try and get Rafael Benitez to reduce his price for the Spanish midfielder Xabi Alonso, but this time it didn't work.

According to the UK newspaper The Independent, Arsenal put in an improved offer of around $14million for Alonso, but Benitez refused to drop from his £16million valuation.

The Liverpool coach had always insisted that he was not prepared to accept any lower bids, but Wenger tried to call his bluff, but without success.

So Arsenal will now have to muddle through to the January transfer window without the promised experienced midfielder, and Arsene Wenger can only hope that Cesc Fabregas remains uninjured until then at least, or Arsenal could have troubles with so many inexperienced players in the team.

are u sure? My article was from footylatest and I thought Wenger failed. Would be great if not. But on Kop-TV it was said we failed in bid for Alonso. Anyway I think we are capable but hate it Wenger cheated us.

Arsenal4ever that story has to be false, because Alonso was rated at 16 mill before he was cup tied for the champions league. Sticking to the same price while a player is cup tied is madness, even Benitez would see that

what i must say to all gooners u shouldn't criticize a player like Eboue i have got a felling that he is going to surprise alot of u lot. trust me Ive seen him burst forward in recent games on several occasions and i ve said this many times he reminds
me of Steven Gerrard when he goes on them bursting runs, he just needs that final end product but i do believe he can get it right Ive also noticed his passing
has improved and the guy is actually very skillful with a bag full of tricks.Ive always wondered to my self how he would do in that Steven Gerrard role in my opinion that would be interesting. what u guys need to remember Eboue's natural position is right back.u guys remember before Sagna he was the best. just give him time he will no douth proove alot of people wrong.

yeah well footy latest quotes the independant which has no news on the success.

i think its still possible they're in talks about it, if I was Benitez i would have taken £14m because he's spent so much that he needs to balance the books as stated in the independant.

tbh, if Wenger failed Alonso will come in Jan.

Denilson can cope till then due to Fabregas' guidance, contrary to apocalyptic cries from fans

All of the AKBs can stfu. We were cheated by Wenger who purposefully lied to us all. If he said from the start that he wasn't gonna buy anyone then it would have been a lot easier to accept.

And to those comparing Eboue to Gerrard must be fucking retarded. Eboue got 1 assist all of last season so judging by that, he has already reached his quota for this. If we had a proper winger last season who is to say that we wouldn't av won the prem.

Stu you idiot i said when he goes on his bursting runs from the centre of midfield he reminds me of Gerrard and yes in time i think hes got what it takes to become a Gerrard type of player probably not as good u dick, but i believe he could be very similar type of player. Like i said all Eboue lacks is end product and saw did henry when he first came to Arsenal and look at the type of player he turned out to be
