Kyiv v Arsenal: Song Replaces Eboue In Starting XI

Arsenal midfielder Alexander Song has been drafted into the starting line-up ahead of tonights Champions League group stage tie against Dynamo Kyiv.

The versatile Cameroonian replaces Emmanuel Eboue – who sustained a knock in the 4-0 triumph over Blackburn on Saturday – and should ‘bulk’ up what looks like a physically weak midfield.

Gunners’ boss Arsene Wenger starts with an unchanged side other than Song’s inclusion. Teenage sensations Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere make up an inexperienced bench, but a strong performance is expected from the eleven that start.

Confirmed Starting XI:

Almunia
Sagna – Toure – Gallas – Clichy
Walcott- Fabregas – Song – Denilson
Adebayor – van Persie

Subs:

Fabianski (GK), Vela, Ramsey, Wilshere, Djourou, Bendtner

  1. could be a 4-5-1 with van persie on the left. Interesting line-up from wenger.

  2. George says:

    Yeah,

I think it may probably be a 4-1-4-1 with Denilson sitting in the pocket.

  3. JoeTodd says:

Song is gunna be more likely to sit in the pocket

  4. Forrest says:

that's a really, really young bench

  5. This is what i said will happen. Fabregas on the right as he played there at the end of the blackburn match when song came on.

  6. George says:

    Good point,

Denilson would maintain his normal role in midfield with Cesc. I wonder if Wenger is being overly defensive? You could argue that with Song in the pocket Cesc could be ripe for a goal today as he will not have to expel much energy tracking back to help on Defense as much.

  7. 6 on the bench? Missing someone?

  8. van persie on left, sorry. fab in centre. close though.
