Silvestre & Song Handed Gunners Starts

Arsene Wenger has handed new-boy Mikael Silvestre and defensive midfielder Alex Song starts for this afternoons Premier League tie against Everton.

Summer-signing Silvestre, made his first appearance in an Arsenal shirt just a fortnight ago when the Gunners’ reserves beat Stoke City 3-2. William Gallas’ injury has given the former Man United star a chance to impress in the centre of defence.

As for Song, the Cameroonian youngster was below-par during Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Sunderland. He’ll also look to put right the drab game of 2 weeks ago with an assure performance in front of the back four this afternoon.

French midfielder Abou Diaby returns to the Arsenal squad – but only on the bench – after recently coming back from a thigh injury. Theo Walcott is dropped to the bench after starring for England twice in midweek while Aaron Ramsey, Kieran Gibbs, Carlos Vela and Gavin Hoyte make up an exciting young bench at the Emirates.
