Senderos

Aston Villa could make a move this January for Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos. The player is currently spending a season long loan at AC Milan, but Martin O’Neill is ready to make an offer to the Gunners to take the Swiss international off of their hands.

Senderos had struggled in his few years at Arsenal previously, and is now hoping to resurrect his career in Serie A. It is understood that AC Milan have no intention of keeping the Swiss defender at the club after his loan has ended though, and he will be returning to Arsenal.

The 23-year-old stopper was a surprise swoop for the Rossoneri whenthey looked to strengthen their back line for a Scudetto push in August, Senderos though, has only managed to play one game under Carlo Anceletti, mainly due to conitinuous injury problems.

Last season, Senderos was blamed for some slacking marking that allowed Liverpool to beat the Gunners in the Champions League. Criticised in the press, the Swiss defender took time to recover, although was able to play an important part in Switzerland’s unsuccessful Euro 2008 campaign.

Arsene Wenger is known to be a keen admirer of Senderos and his ‘unique’ stopping skills, but Villa’s apparent interest will certainly be noted by the Frenchman, and may potentially be able to fill the void left by Olof Mellberg.

A confident Arsenal team take on Aston Villa tomorrow afternoon in a exciting-looking Premier League encounter at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsene Wenger’s side go into the game on the back of two excellent victories over Manchester United and Wigan Athletic, Arsenal will, for sure, go into the match full of confidence and will be looking to continue their winning run, despite the fact that Aston Villa have never lost any match at the Emirates Stadium.

Having suffered two back-to-back league defeats for the first time this season, Aston Villa are not in the most postive of situations at the moment. So, they will look for a improved performance in the chilly North London atmosphere tomorrow.

Wenger is set to bring back his top guns including Cesc Fabregas, William Gallas, Emmanuel Adebayor, Theo Walcott and Mikael Silvestre for the match against Aston Villa. However, Emmanuel Eboue (knee), Tomas Rosicky (knee) and Eduardo da Silva (broken leg) will remain sidelined due to their injuries. Star striker Robin van Persie will serve the second of his two-match suspension imposed on his as he picked up a red card in the defeat to Stoke City.

Aston Villa striker John Carew is doubtful for the tip to London with his hip injury, while Stiliyan Petrov and Luke Young are expected to return to action with this match.
