Arsenal 1-0 Wigan Athletic

Emmanuel Adebayor struck the only goal to keep Arsenal’s faint title hopes alive.

The Gunners are still eight points behind leaders Liverpool but their bid could have been dead and buried had Wigan nicked a deserved equaliser.

Adebayor’s match-winning strike was overshadowed by Emmanuel Eboue’s performance, which Arsene Wenger’s described as a “danger” to his own side.

The Ivorian came on as a 32nd-minute substitute for Samir Nasri but had to be hauled off by Wenger before the final whistle after a nightmare showing.

These morons should be ashamed, what kind of an idiot boos his own player? How the fuck does this help the team?? These people aren’t true supporters or even casual fans they are parasites who are only here for the glory. No one booed Hillier, Morrow, McGoldrick or Selley during the 90s, though I doubt anyone booing today would even know who I’m talking about. True gooners need to shame these people – what the hell must the likes of Fabregas be thinking hearing these idiots booing one of his own team mates? I wouldn’t blame him if he decided to clear off back to spain – why on earth would you want to play for such morons?

you are right, i was there & it was embarrassing. unfortunately it was only just a minority! there really were alot of idiots hurling abuse.
the trouble is you reap what you sow.
sites like this are constantly drumming up ill feeling towards the club, including the manager.
the auther’s will tell you they are supporters & entitled to their opinion, & they are right, they just don’t realise the damage it does.
no player deserves what eboue went through today.
i’m sad to say i was ashamed of some of my fellow gooners today.

Fucking disgrace. Some of these ‘fans’ should all fuck off and support someone else. I’ve never heard anything like it. True supporters don’t boo their own, no matter who it is.

On another note, we always get told we never win ugly. Well today we did and we got the 3 points. End of.

Whatever we think of Eboue and, let’s be honest, for most of us it isn’t much, I have to say I was totally ashamed when the sub board went up and at least 30,000 people cheered when they saw ’27′ on it. He’d actually made quite a telling contribution at first. In the last 15 minutes he started making basic mistakes, as did Van Persie, Cesc, Song and others, as the reality of a possible ’1-1′ draw took hold and nerves crept in. The crowd was an odd bunch today – even booing sub Bendtner’s name before kick off. Good 3 points, but a bad day to be a Gooner.

    I think that isn´t fair!
He isn´t deserved it because he was 5 weeks injured and out the team!

its a shame because eboue had started to become more consistant at the start of the season, his injury obviously set him back. but eboue is most definately a confidence player. when being a winger you need a hint of arogance and self assurace other wise your not going to take any body on.
hopefuly his confidence will be back quick as we need a RM with theo out.
Chin up Eboue, we all have our bad days!!

    Atrocious, with a Capital “A”.

Eboue before his injury was playing some of the best football he’s ever played at Arsenal and some muppets have to go off and give him a hard time as soon as he comes back (on top of the fact he was playing out of position bear in mind). Didn’t the whole Gallas affair teach anyone anything at all?

I’m sorry to say but if we don’t win anything this year, the fans have only themselves to blame. A pity we can’t transfer some of them out of the Emirates come January! Forget Clockends; more like Knobends.

Sad. Eboue just came back from injury and was playing out of position. How can the so called “fans” do this, i failed to comprehend. Let’s not forget the good work Eboue did before he went injured. Boo Boys Are Sick!

Oh grow up. He was sh*t and a complete liability and needed to be taken off.

It wasn’t 30,000 people that boo’d him; more like 50,000.

Instead of being so uptight – why don’t you go to the match and not boo then? Cheapskate mofo’s.

Don’t think that justifies your reaction you bollocks. The team’s goin through a bad enough patch as it is without people like you giving more stick to more players when it’s not needed. Stay at home next time if you can’t keep your head. Do you think this kinda shit does the team any good? What a spanner.

I felt ashamed of being an Arsenal fan yesterday, something I never believed would be possible.
The idiots have been picking on Bendtner recently now its Eboue’s turn.
Tell me idiots, if Bendtner had come on to replace Eboue would you have cheered him like you cheered when Adebayor came on to replace him against Villa? Thats the same Adebayor you were booing earlier this season!
Get a grip morons if you boo your own players they don’t get better they get worse. If they’re really not good enough they won’t be playing for long. Have faith and be a real supporter, try and lift your players not destroy them!

I think Eboue done pretty good at the start of the second half. He made a lot of chances for Van Persie and Adebayor. Bear in mind Eboue was on the left when he should be playing on the right, also I’m sure Eboue was originally a defender. He just had a shaky last 15 minutes or so.

I agree with wholeheartadly with “not booing your own players” it’s not helping in anyway at all. I think the reaction from the crowd is a combination of things…

Frustration of the last couple of years not winning anything (this runs very deep and for people who are unexpactant as I am because even though I have great respect for Wenger this team isn’t capable of winning something this season)

The problems in the squad played a big part in this, it’s still in the minds of most fans. (the media made sure of that) Eboué had a big part in this (supposedly)

I’ve seen Coaches (like Louis van Gaal, Aad de Mos) here in Holland withdraw they’re players after three wrong passes. I think Eboué had enough time to get his focus right, but he didn’t. That attitude, not being professional, just playing the game like it’s a street match, that’s the attitude a lot of Arsenal fans are fed up with it.

I am not justifing the booing but I am saying I understand where it’s coming from and especially in Eboué’s case why it has happened at that time.

I hope a lot of fans realise that it’s not helpfull at all. We need to stick to our team… and sorry for saying this but we shouldn’t be expactant, but still in the end we love to be an Arsenal fan because (most of the time) we get to see beautiful football…

so ashamed to be a gooner after the booing. woke up today feeling like we had lost. shame on all fans who did it. Eboue is an important player and tired because of lack of match fitness.

DISGRACEFUL to the Arsenal are those so called ‘fans’.

  18. I guess we have d*ckhead supporting us. We dont need them, what exactly are they trying to achieve by booing the players? we have many young players in the team & this will not help concentrate on the pitch. Will these mor*ns boo Rosicky when he comes back & has a bad game?

The boos on saturday was just a build up of fans dislike for Eboue, his theatrical dives and poor final balls and lack of creativity in a position that requires it and no goals! Yes it was harsh. Had he not just come back from injury it would have been justified but the guy has had little play time over the last few weeks.

Eboue may not be our favourite player, but i honestly feel he’s trying his best for the team [and at times played some great football for Arsenal too!]. Credit to him where its due.

The Wigan match was unfortunate, as explained by many above. But those boo-ing Arsenal “FANS” should be ashamed of themselves…
