Exclusive: Wenger On Arshavin – "Be Patient"
Gooner Talk can exclusively reveal that Arsene Wenger has refused to deny the consistent rumours concerning Russia forward Andrey Arshavin.
Zenit St Petersberg star Arshavin has attracted an array of admiring clubs on the strength of two spectacular Euro 2008 performances against Sweden and the Netherlands, Arsenal are said to be one of them.
French tactician Wenger admitted on French TV that he doesn’t have £40 million to spend in the January transfer window, but surprisingly revealed what positions he’s looking to strengthen in and also answered a question about Arshavin.
Wenger, speaking to Canal + said:
“I start feeling the crisis but I can’t spend £40m. We are looking at a creative player and another midfielder.”
When asked about the Arshavin link, Wenger replied with a coy smile and answer.
“Be a little patient. From the moment you give a name, you remove 50% chance of success to sign him.”
Whilst talking to British broadcaster Sky Sports, once again the Arsenal boss remained secretive on his January transfer plans.

It seems Arshavin is destined to be the replacement for Cesc Fabregas after the Spaniard sustained a long-term knee injury that will keep him out for four months.

No doubt is arshavin like he said we miss creativity of rosicky and walcott both wingers arshavin is winger same type of hleb he can play behind strikers or on the wings and only issue about arshavin transfer is the price 20mil pounds and hopefully wenger will pay that sum now that arsneal made profit of diarra sale 5.5mil pound and also from bently sale 7,5mil pounds so that is 13mil pounds profit and the transfer for arshavin will cost only 7mil p

I think he’s planning a bid for Arshavin and getting Miguel Veloso on a 6-month loan from Sporting with an option to buy. I would be absolutely thrilled if that’s all we did!

yeh i think there were rumours a few days ago about veloso and a loan move to various clubs. Him and arshavin would be good and i’m just so relieved that wenger has actually accepted that we need to buy more players in january..lets just hope its at the beginning of jan and not the end

I really do not want Arshavin. I think a different player like Arteta or Elano who have already played in the Premiere League should be bought, instead of someone who would need a settling in period. Veloso would be a good signing to fill in the DM spot, I think.

Seriously, Arshavin wil not be bought. when was the last time arsenal spent 20mil on one player?? thats right, NEVER!! Arsene should go for Elano and Scot Parker and we are set. Elano is creative enough and Parker can put in a hard tackle n also runs alot! Think about it people… Imagin Parker and Denilson in front of defence and Nasri right and Elano left and Ade RVP in front. Besides both would nid no time to adapt to the epl. Another thing, we dont need cesc’s replacement we nid to change how we play until he returns.

i think arsenal need him much now. they cannot scoring many goal for one game mean they always get draw, they need to sign player who can score more goal such as him or david villa or podolski.adebayor not consistent like last season.

either wenger or the board are ball bagging us because the board keep saying theres money to spend whilst wenger has come out saying he hopes there will be but is not too sure…what is going on
I think Wenger will sign Elano (loan). And then a talent player like Flamini from France.
If we need an attacking MF and a CB, what about an attacking CB to kill two birds with one stone. Someone like Titus Brambe…..perfect. Buffoons.
If we get Senderos back and buy Upson, I believe we’ll be fine at the back. As for midfield, we should sign Gökhan Inler from Udinese. He’s a really good holding midfielder and he’s only 24. We don’t really need a striker, at least not as much as we need a winger. I’m not sure though where we can get a good winger from at the moment. Elia of Twente is an option, but he’s unproven and, like Inler, already cup-tied. I don’t think we have a lot of money to spend anyway though.
A lot of people are starting to suspect that we don’t have as much transfer money available as the papers make out.
It would certainly explain the shitty state of our squad and also means Wenger is doing an absolutely brilliant job. Look at how much sp*rs have spent and where has that got them?

FABREGAS IS TOO LIGHT WEIGHT TO PLAY IN THE CENTRE OF A TEAM WHICH PLAYS ATTACKING FOOTBALL.. IF YOU LOOK BACK OVER THE PAST TEN YEARS (THE BETTER YEARS) WENGER HAD AN UNBEATABLE FORMULA.
THIS WAS SAFE HANDS AT THE BACK
POWER, AGGRESSION, SPEED AND HEIGHT IN THE CENTRE BACKS, PACE AND QUALITY PASSING ON THE WING BACKS, AWSOME SPEED AND SELFISHNESS ON THE WINGS WITH THE FORESIGHT OF BEING IN THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME FOR TAP-INS, POWER AND AGGRESSION, HEIGHT AND LEADERSHIP IN THE MIDDLE WITH TWO LETHAL LAZY STRIKERS UP FRONT…..
THE ONLY THREE PLAYERS IN OUR CURRENT TEAM WHICH WOULD MAKE IT INTO AW49 SQUAD OR PREVIOUS GREAT SQUADS WOULD BE NASRI, THEO AND RVP, AND AT BEST THEY WOULD BE ON THE BENCH.
THIS CURRENT TEAM IS A JOKE…. WHAT MAKES ME LAUGH WE HAVE THE RESOURCES TO MAKE IT BETTER THAN ANY TEAM WE HAVE EVER HAD…. I have said it once, and i’ll say it again, it is wrong to buy a player judging on how they did in a tournament. He’s 27-28 now and if he was really worth it i’m sure he would of been snapped up by someone sooner…

Nordtveit is a bottler and he is not ready for 1st team football, He needs at least another 2 loans moves where he wouldnt spit his dummy out but instead work hard to get game time.
I hope Barazite stays on @ derby as well to continue his physical development.
