Hannover & Barca lined up for pre-season

Arsenal will be playing German side Hannover 96 just days before the Emirates Cup as Arsene Wenger’s squad plan their pre-season preparations for the 2009/10 campaign.
The AWD Arena is home to Dieter Hecking’s experienced team and strong line-up’s are very likely.
An Austrian tour is also planned this July.
European Champions Barcelona become Arsenal’s first challenge of the season in a UNICEF Charity match at RC Strasbourg’s Stade de la Meinau stadium on July 13.
The last time both teams met was in the 2005/06 Champions League Final where the were unfortunate to lose 2-1 after controlling much of the game.
It all adds up for an exciting but hectic schedule this summer. With the Emirates Cup to look forward to, Gooner Talk aim to keep you updated throughout the coming months – so stay tuned!
Arsenal’s pre-season fixture list (unconfirmed as of yet):
13 July – FC Barcelona v Arsenal (UNICEF Charity Match)
18 July – Barnet v Arsenal (Pre-season Friendly)
20 July – Lincoln City v Arsenal XI (Pre-season Friendly)
29 July – Hannover 96 v Arsenal (Pre-season Friendly)
01 August – Arsenal v Atletico Madrid (Emirates Cup)
02 August – Arsenal v Rangers (Emirates Cup)

Awesome!!! Sounds like the whole squad is gonna get burnout though not just Theo XD
are we going to be in the amsterdam tournament this year GC?
Doesn’t look like it mate, when Arsenal confirm the friendlies I’ll put any details up straight away.
Apparentley, the 2009/2010 season starts on August 15th. This means that from our last Emirates Cup game against Rangers until the opening day of the season, there is 13 days spare. Usually we have one more friendly a week before the opening league game.
The Amsterdam tournament used to have an official website, but it doesn’t anymore.
Also, just remembered that England play Holland in an international friendly on August 12th. There must be a whole round of international fixtures that day, which means players will join up with countries the weekend before, meaning the Emirates Cup is the last weekend of friendlies, unless there is a midweek one afterwards.
What about the all important champs league qualifier?
champions league qualifiers are on August 18th/19th and August 25th/26th
Why Barnet & Arsenal always meet up every pre-season matches? Do they have any histories?
Because the reserves play at underhill. Part of the agreement is that we play them every pre season in a freindly.
It looks to be a tight pre season schedule for arsenal. Hope it is not going to burn out the players before the beginning of the season but rather shape them up.
Ive got a great feeling about next season:
We will turn the bad experiences of this season into experience.
The players are all one year older and therfor more experienced than they were.
Players like JET, Ramsay, Wilshire are closer to the first team.
With a few good signings and luck with injuries we will be back up there.
We will finish ahead of the liverpool scum and Shite Man U. Chelsea will do a tottenham with a guy that cant speak English and will end up sacking their manager again.
Hope the Barcelona one will be on TV if this fixture happens!
gooner chris how u doin m8 do u know by any chance if the barcelona friendly will be reserves or first team ??
Tha Barca game looks like a must see match for all gooners.
Hope Arsene oly brigs in one midfielder maybe Barry from Villa and promotes Fran Merida from the reserves to a regular first team squad member along with Jack the lad.
Hopefully it’s goodbye Adebayor and hello Huntelaar
God i am dreading that game got a feeling barcelona will batter arsenal. But it would be intreseting to see if kids do play and we see arsenal kids vs barcelona kids.
Arsenal-Barcelona in Strasbourg has never been confirmed since a quick news in a local french newspaper so….
Don’t hope too much!
how do uno bout a baraca game chris
Hi Gooner Chris,
Can you confirm if there will be any more friendlies in the Austrian pre-season training camp. Just I thought we normally play a few more games at smallers grounds as I was thinking about making the trip. If you could email me with any info you have that would be great.
Cheers
Rich
I have my tickets for Hannover 96, there are not too many left: Check out Hannover 96.de.
