Nasri blow gives Wenger food for thought

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger might have been plotting the departure of striker Emmanuel Adebayor, but he certainly didn’t foresee the injury to Samir Nasri.
The France midfielder will be missing for around six to eight weeks after fracturing his fibula at the club’s Austrian training camp on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old was apparently the victim of a challenge from Abou Diaby and he will now miss the rest of the tour – not the preparation the Gunners were looking for with the season less than a month away.
Wenger however is unlikely to draft in a replacement for Nasri, who made a decent impact with the Gunners last season after his near £16million switch from Marseille.
The Gunners boss has been very quiet in the transfer market this season with just Thomas Vermaelen arriving in the close season and a knee-jerk reaction to Nasri’s injury by signing a short-term replacement is pretty much out of the question for Wenger.
He will now instead look to Andrey Arshavin and Tomas Rosicky to fill the void left by the injury to Nasri.
Wenger had resigned himself to losing Rosicky after revealing he thought the player’s career was over, but the Czech star has upset the football odds and is now back in training and should be fit for the start of the new season.
Rosicky – the forgotten man at the Emirates – has been troubled by a hamstring injury but played his first game for the club in 18 months against Barnet at the weekend and is thought to be back on track.

putting arshavin on the wing would not only piss him off slightly but would mean we only have bendtner and rvp as strikers as eduardo is constantly getting niggling injuries…wenger cant keep being so stubborn
eduardo isnt injured, its an error and wengers apart. he was misenturpeted, but then again, he is French
A.W can’t continue with this sturborness,he just have to realise that he is hurting us we fans .he need to buy may be a back up striker or a holding midfielder so as to fill the void left by nasri’s injury.
no need to worry guys!! i have it on good authority that we’re gonna be signing a bus load of 12yr olds tommorrow. apparantly they’ll be extremely high prospects and will be given squad numbers and challenging for first team places for the forthcoming season. all hail our board and arsene wenger! cant wait for the season to start now!!!
wenger must spend sum money now, even before nasri got injured he needed 2 add a few.the thing arsenal really need tho is a defensive midfielder.im not saying song denilson r bad but arsenal really need sum1 with a bit of bite in the middle, they r outfought too often.gohkan inler looks to fit the bill and i hope wenger realizes that.this i think should be a priority
lads all we need is the next thierry henry and the next paddy vieira and we are sorted, it cant be that hard arsene, got get them! lol jokes aside he does need to buy
we all accuse wenger of being stubborn and not wanting to spend money.
do we really have the money to spend?
have we questioned the board?
do we really know or appreciate the impact of moving to the new stadium?
yes Ade cost £25M so there is money.
Also Ashavin + Thomas = £25M
which may just have been the money set down for this season’s tranfer.
well that’s just me thinking cos so many things are not being properly explained so we are all left to assume.
wenger has told us that he can spend the profit from the ade transfer tho,and i realy think arsenal will be found wanting again unless we get a defensive midfielder and possibly another striker, that aside we hav the makings of a title winning side.denilson and song are ideal cover diaby should be sold as he isnt good enuff
for fuck sake wenger BUY fuck me wenger really pisses me off
wrong, not three month!!
http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wenger-nasri-could-heal-in-six-weeks
The way i see it is…. there still time for wenger to buy someone, where gonna have to play the waiting game. If wenger doesnt buy any1 and we fail again, i will have a vendetta against him and if i ever see him in the street, will personally show him what i think about him lol
he will buy!!! But if not and fails again he has to go; with the completely board!!!
so there is news about Dudu`s “injury”!!
http://arsenalanalysis.blogspot.com/2009/07/eduardo-it-cannot-be-true-i-am-not.html
Also I believe Wenger will do something after the austria trip as Chamakh already declared he will wait for an Arsenal offer. If it will be him or more we will see!! Wenger knows best and I trust him this season again!!
This news has generated more panice than what it should have. Arshavin will surely play there. But if not Rosicky can. Also we have Armand Traore I think he can be quite an exciting option down the left wing, of not sent on loan that is. And I would prefer Nasri getting injured now than towards the end of the season.
Grimandi has a good point about selling before buying. The problem with the squad is that there are too many players below the standard needed to challenge for honors and maybe even the standard needed to fend off City for 4th.
We will still have six central defenders after Senderos departs.
1. Gallas 2. Toure 3. Vermaelen 4. Djourou 5. Song 6. Silvestre
As much as everyone, myself included, would like to see the back of Silvestre – are we willing to try Luke Ayling instead? What other defender are we going to find to be 5/6th choice at CB and 3/4/5th choice at LB?
In central midfield where we need to strengthen we have plenty of players, but lack quality and balance between more attacking and more defensive options.
In the more creative position we have
1. Fabregas 2. Nasri 3. Denilson 4. Rosicky 5. Diaby 6. Ramsey
In the more defensive role the boss considers
1. Denilson 2. Song 3. Diaby
In total that’s 7 first team central midfielders for two sometimes three spots, but only one first choice CM in either a 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 in Fabregas.
If we really want to progress than hard choices should be made regarding the future of Diaby. Although he shows tremendous ability/potential from time to time, he not only weakens the side when he starts, but his “versatility” at least in Wenger’s mind also keeps other players (like Wilshere, Vela and Ramsey) from getting a chance.
As for the defense Gallas and Toure need to be split up as first choice pairing one way or another, yet it would be idiotic to contemplate selling Kolo to City, so where does that leave us? Neither Gallas nor Toure will settle for the substitute bench… Hopefully Vermaelen will offer us something different, but he seems more likely as third choice.
Don’t hold your breath for signings. The only area of the park we need a player is in the DM and Wenger already gave himself an out for not spending the ade cash by saying he can spend the Ade money but he wont rush into the market and will only spend if we can buy someone who will add something to the team. Once September 1st rolls around and we have no other signings me will just trot out his usual list of excuses saying this and that is like a new signing, how good Diaby and Denilson are and that he had the money but he just couldn’t find a player he thought would make us stronger. Typical Wenger bullshit. In the mean time I agree with the article in so much that we do not need to sign a replacement for Nasri. Rosicky hopefully can handle it up until October and I think a combination of Ramsey, Wilshere and Vela can also cover Nasri’s minutes. It is the DM we wont be getting we should all be concerned about.
man we are DOOOOOMED BIG TIME,just dnt get some fans who think this team can actually win anything, how?????an why????no experince/nooo where near the other top 3(even villa/everton and now city have better players than us) so just dnt get, same same shit been said at the end of each of the last 4 seasons, ohhh we gonna buy/do this and that then 1 player comes in and main players leave i mean how da fuk dose that work????wake up goonerz we’r only heading 1 way and that’s down unfortunatly, and there’s no other way but that with our squad
WTF!!
are most of you honestly arsenal fans?! yes i am extremely pissed off like everyone else and lost all patience BUT i still do not blame wenger. He used to get physically sick when losing a game! If you want to blame anyone blame the DAMN BOARD, they are so intent on the stadium and club being self suffiecient there is no money for wenger…. just like alex fergerson said “im fairly sure arsenal have no money!!”
So back wenger 100% cos without him we really would be in the shit… none of the good players would stay without him fabregas, van persie etc.
The board think they can get away with it cos wenger is so talented but they’re are pushing him and the fans into dangerous place!!
OH YEA!
As regard to transfers one DM (Good, not 11 years old) and one striker (again good) would see us title challengers with a fully or near fully fit squad.
I hope he goes for Huntaleer and Diawra from Real Madrid, it looks like Senderos will leave maybe to Villa or maybe with Hangeland coming to us (I hope). I do agree that more players (defence) will be leaving Senderos being one and maybe Toure to City for around 12m but it looks like a slow process.
I thought Wenger wanted all tranferred complete by the start of the season
YEAH… AND WE CAN REPLACE HIM WITH YOU @arsenal4ever …FUCKING FOOL. WEATHER HE BUYS OR NOT THERE IS NOTHING YOU LOT CAN DO ABOUT IT. the real fans will support any players that wears an arsenal jersey through thick and thin…. the fake ones are only happy when we are winning, disert us and question the managers when we are not winning. we cant win all the time am afrade. 20 teams… 4 trophies…. do the maths. IN Wenger we trust.
this is what worries me. Wenger is relying on the players we got when apart from Arshavin, have all picked up injuries time and time again.
He will come un stuck if he dont buy a top finisher who is hungry to prove them selves in the best league in the world.
I say play Arshavin as the second striker and play off Van Persie or Eduardo! But at least give the fans a bit of encouragement. He’s a closed book that sneaky frenchman, and im sorry to say it if we end up with nothing again this season, He’ll have to go. Football has changed since the 49 games unbeaten record. Maybe Wenger should catch up before losing out.
My Goodness are you Arsenal Fans? I thought I was on Newcastle website for a second with all the negativity. Look instead of trying to second guess wenger by saying how much we hate him for ruining our club by not spending millions for players that we have been ‘linked’ with or making jokes (which are lame) about buying 2 12 year olds or the extremely boring ‘its the boards fault’…..why dont we just wait and see what happens. No-one thought Wenger was gonna buy Nasri for £15 mil….he did, No one thought he would get Arshavin (whos cost could rise to £16.9mil)…..he did. Plus we just spent £10mil on a defender.
So just sit back and wait cos no-one has clue what Wenger is up to.
p.s. all those who decided to turn on Diaby after the rumour his tackle injured Nasri, how do feel now that you know that that was not the case? Gooners I know its been a couple years since a trophy but lets not lose our heads now, it could be worse……we could supports spurs
spot on!!! I already said I will trust him!! Also Nick will become better as Ibra and Greedybayor!!!

OH! You’re my new favorite blogger fyi
good news!!! Huntelaar rejects Stuttgart to come to us!!! Hope this is true would be deadly with RVP and Nick together!!!!
Yeah the spuds are after him as well so i hear. Cant trust what the papers say thou.
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/2009/07/23/klaas-jan-huntelaar-move-to-tottenham-back-on-after-stuttgart-pull-out-115875-21542054/
but if Wenger will make an offer I am sure he wants to come to us!!!
totally agree with biscuit~
dead on biscuit and will’.
will all you trendster, so call aresnal fans shut the feuck up and stop whining. honestly.
and nasri – - a winger mind — is out a bit and you trend followers are dying for a striker. a striker?? that’s just idiotic. lookit, just because real madrid is buying a lot of offense, and newkids on the block, man-shitty, have 8 strikers, does NOT mean that arsenal should adopt the same suicidal approach. WAKE THE FECK UP.
I said it before and I’ll say it again. Wenger gotta go if Arsenal’s to have a chance in winning something. The man has lost it. He will make Denilson and Diaby the main midfield pairing again this season. To him, those two idiots are worth more than the whole Spanish team midfields.
you have no clue. According to Le Parisien and Francefootball we are still after Cana!!!
http://www.football.fr/footballfr/cmc/scanner/transferts/200930/om-cana-piste-par-arsenal-_70656.html?popup
According to Le Parisien, would be interested in Arsenal midfielder of Olympique de Marseille, Lorik Cana. Announced from the club Marseilles, the Albanian international is on the shelves of Everton and Hamburg.
oh yes, so the bandwagoner’s next angle is: new manager. yes, yes, that’s surely a wise move. nothing like a bit of stability at a club for it really to get to winning ways. whos’s your fav. gonergooner, the special one?
jaysus some of you are unbelievable.
Come on, do you seriously believe we are going to be in contention this year, with the current squad that we have?
What has changed? Is our front-line better? Has our midfield improved? Backfield, we added a defender and he’s no Maldini. Where do our goalkeepers rank in the Premiership?
Will Wenger become tactically courageous and substitute players early instead of at the 80th minute?
So what do we have? Sure, we’ll still be top 4, I’m sure of it, but that’s about it.
hope we will get both of them!!!
