Arsenal scouting Lille starlets
Arsenal scouts are keeping tabs on Lille OSC stars Eden Hazard and Adil Rami.
Former Gunners skipper Tony Adams was present at the Stadium Lille-Metropole to watch August’s Europa League clash with Racing Genk — Hazard and Rami were apparently Adams’ main reason for being there.
Both players are said to be the ‘next big thing’ coming out of Lille’s product line — you can check out a video of Hazard at the bottom of this article.
Highly-rated midfielder Hazard, 18, has been linked with Arsenal before and he’s previously stated his pleasure at Arsene Wenger’s interest in him.
“Real Madrid and Arsenal are the clubs I dreamed of joining as a child. If I joined Inter or Barcelona and could play football there then that would be very good, but Real and Arsenal are really great and play at a very high technical level” said Hazard.
Solid French centre back Rami, 23, is another who has been a consistent performer in Ligue 1 throughout last season. He also spoke on Arsenal’s reported interest several months ago.
“When teams such as Milan and Arsenal get mentioned to you it makes you dream but I am relaxed.”

Yeah wasn’t it Adams who said Vermaelen wasn’t good enough too? In all fairness he’s had a wonderful start to the season. Only wish now i had of stuck him in the fantasy football from the start instead of Song (but i reckon Song’s due a goal soon with all the solo charging towards goal he’s been at recently).
He looks abit similar to cristiano ronaldo , i mean game style , i think he worths spending big …
He looks like he hogs the ball to much from the video……. not a very great team player. Very skillful yes but he’ll be a reserve team player until he learns not to be the only player on the pitch on his side.
To fit in at Arsenal he’d have to learn to know where he’s going before he gets the ball not when people are on top of him, the premier league players would annhialate him if he didnt get rid of the ball quicker.

Nobody “annhialated” C. Ronaldo in the Premiership until he became the best player in the world, it’s time we start fishing around for our own C.Ronaldo, or don’t you think so? I thought this guy certainly has the skills and technic that Wenger likes and craves for, his first touch on the left leg and long range passes is superb, I for one would like to see him in an Arsenal shirt in a few years time alongside Vela, Wallcot, Ramsey, Gibs, etc.

He’s too similar in style and ability, I can’t see what he offers that our other creative midfielders don’t…
yes thats true. But depth in squad cant be bad. Anyway I really hope Wenger will extend Tomas contract. He is on the way back to his very best. Chris do you think we will get Vieira in January? Or will Wenger look elsewhere?

This hazard kid reminds me abit of a young cesc with he’s ball control.. I think we should replace diaby or denilson with this kid..
Hard to tell if wenger will give rosicky a new contract.. What about gallas?? i think he’ll be more important as we do have nasri, ramsey & wilshere to cover in them area’s.. denilson & diaby can both you know what.
sometimes i feel all this fuss about having the perfect DM is very over-rated….i say play rosicky , fab , nasri with arsh , rvp n eduardo/bendtner upfront…that way we don’t lose pace and each one em can play the arsenal way with perfection..and it’s not like nasri , cesc and rosicky can’t tackle…what does diaby , with his height ever do? the only header i remember him winning was against united. he gets pushed around by players shorter than him..song is decent but is too slow…If you do want to play a DM then make sure he’s class..De rossi would be perfect for us..but till then , lets play with the six i mentioned above..trust me , they will rip apart any defence…you only have to look at the first goal we scored against liverpool last season in the 4-4 match..name one team which can pass the ball like how nasri , fab n arsh did ..not even barca
agree rosicky used to be Dm and nasri is a bit defensive and fab is end to end type of player. so it’s perfect.

I started watching Lille matches late last season to get a good look at Hazard, whom we’ve long been linked with. I really like him. He does have a lot of C. Ronaldo (and Ribery to a lesser extent, who’s the same height as Hazard) in his dribbling and pace. Similar to CR9, he’s right-footed with a very good left foot and continually switches flanks, perhaps playing on the left a bit more than the right. While like Lille as a whole, he’s experienced a small drop in form at the start of this season, but Wenger should definitely try to sign him. If he doesn’t feel he’s quite ready to get much game-time, Wenger should just loan him back to Lille. It’d be best to lock him up early and save money at the same time. We all know we’ve got enough money in the bank.
In watching Lille, I got to also see some of the other players we’ve been linked to, including Adil Rami. I’ve really been impressed/surprised by him. The closest thing I could compare him to is Chelsea’s Alex, in that he’s 6’3” with a thick, muscular build who is at the same time a very good athlete, though with a lot more fire in his belly than Alex. Using his good height and strength, he seems to really relish aerial opportunities, like TV5 does for us. Similar to all Arsenal CB’s, he often makes forays forward to typically good effect as he’s comfortable with the ball at his feel. Like Alex, he makes some occasional mental lapses, but this should improve with age and training, especially since, according to Wikipedia, he played only as an amateur on his native island of Corsica (while working as a gardener) until the 2006-07 season when he was brought to Lille, so he should develop more as a player than the typical 23 year-old.
The other Lille players that have been previously linked to Arsenal, DM Cabaye and CF/RW Gervinho, have had divergent fortunes this season. Cabaye has been in really poor form, including picking up a red card against Lens only couple of minutes after coming on. Conversely, Gervinho seems to have really started turning his ability into goals, which everyone has been waiting for for a long time. While he still might be better suited for the wing, particularly at somewhere like Arsenal with our 4-3-3, he’s really made a step up in performance this season.

I remember a guy on the main Arsenal facebook page called Stanley Croyance I think, was singing these guys praises over a year and a half ago, and he seemed to watch a lot of Ligue 1. He reckoned Hazard would be a good addition to any team as his technical levels were high, and his maturity would ensure he wouldn’t need to be seen as a long term project. He also rated Rami as one of the up and coming defenders, one who is rugged and intelligent in what he is doing.
Of the two, personally, we need a defender more than a skilful attacker, Rami is now getting call ups to the French side, we need to buy a player ready to take over Gallas if he chooses to leave, I’m not convinced that Djourou is what we need, we have seen instantly that with Vermaelen, there is no way Djourou even compares with him or Gallas, any thoughts?

off topic but i’ve just been watching some youtube videos on vermaelen..the guy is sooooooo good..some of the things i never really noticed before..love the guy!!…and i just voted for his goal as the best on arsenal.com and he won that poll by a mile..great to know that most people know how to appreciate true quality.

Puyol is a highly-rated defender, and a legend at Barca, it’s impossible to think that a player like him would want to come to Arsenal and sitting on the bench.
Ken…his contract is about to expire plus he brings in a lot of experience and is one of the best defenders in the primera liga…i think he would be a perfect buy…WAT SAY GOONERS????

Walcott only has a dead leg, takes 2 days to recover if even that.
My own honest opinion is Hazard is good and all but at the moment do we really need him look at the attacking options we have at the moment buying him means that one of them has to sit out to make way for Hazard and i don’t want that at all coz personally i want to see Ramsey,Walcott,Wilshere,Cesc,Bendtner and Vela tear up defense in the future i feel we need to strengthen our defense.Galla has been good this season but we can’t keep relying on him coz he’s reaching that stage were he probably will be thinking of retiring soon we don’t wana be like Man Utd always being saved by Giggs esp this season i believe we are better than that
