Team Predictions: Arsenal v Wolverhampton

Arsenal go into tomorrow’s match against Wolves with almost half a team injured.

Five of the players who drew with Barcelona on Wednesday will be missing. Cesc Fabregas has been ruled out for the season, while William Gallas and Andrey Arshavin both have calf strains.

Coming off the back of Wednesday’s 2-2 thriller, Gael Clichy and Denilson are also doubts ahead of Saturday’s match.

“At the moment, we are like an army who have come back from a big battle,” he said. “We have some bruises but we need to recover and then go to the next battle. Who will be available for the next one? I have to wait 24 hours more.

“William had a recurrence of his calf strain. That is at least three weeks. The next one is Arshavin – calf strain, three weeks.

“Gael Clichy is struggling with a back problem. He might need a breather as well. I don’t know yet, we will assess that tomorrow. Denilson has a groin problem, we will assess that too.

“The first three are out, Clichy and Denilson are ‘possibles’ to play at the weekend.”

He played the full 90 on Wednesday and I think he’s going to be vital in our upcoming games.

What would your team be mate? :)

    Eboue has to play!
He has to play all our remaining league games and should really start in the 2nd leg.
When will wenger realise his worth? Whether at fullback or midfield hes a handful for opponents offensively and defensively.
Id play eboue at RB against wolves to let him attack from deep and in midfield at the nou camp. Use theo off the bench again in that game, I dont believe this one good performance proves he deserves to start big games for us. Hes shown he can scare barca from the bench, but if we start him we might waste a potent weapon.

Arsene needs to be careful who he picks other wise West Ham and Hull will probably complain about us playing a weakend team lol

  9. Davi says:

@tried and tested: We’re not done. We’re well in both competitions. They’ve got to go as far as they can.
You never know, sometimes the loss of big players makes others come out of their shells cos they know they cant rely on cesc or whoever to bail them out.
Diaby, song, rosicky, nasri, bendtner, theo, clichy, eduardo, denilson – these are incredibly talented players, but I dont think we see the best of them that often, in some cases at least I think because they do rely on cesc and others to take over.
If they can step up, we have a shot. Id say the league is more realistic. If we win every remaining game I still think we have a chance.

We need Campbell, Nasir and Bendtner well rested for Barca!

I think we should bring out some of the youths in the second half! If we have Song as a DM we will have great cover at back and can kill the game of early and rest key players for Barca!

    I think it will be 2 – 0 maybe 3 -1

I think Walcott starting at Camp Nou will inhibit Barca. Remember they will be fielding a make shift defence-heart (CBs) so it will bw key to have a goal threat, someone who Barca fear. Walcott’s pace will disturb any team and I think he should play the full 90 at the Nou Camp. The last thing Barca need is a winger who can outrun any of their defenders. Even if Theo is not getting any service,he is still a threat. I’d give Theo a licence to run and a free role in the 2nd leg

Nasri will start in the Cesc role and I would be very surprised if Bendtner was rested. Don’t think we’ll see a front three of Walcott, Edu and Vela either: who would hold onto the ball?

Eboue usually plays at the Emirates so Ithink he’ll start alongside Sol, TV and Traore. Diaby needs to put Wednesday behind him so he should play in midfield with Samir and Song. Walcott, Nik and Rosicky will be upfront. I could see Eduardo starting in Rosicky’s place though, but think Traore will probably need some cover.

Vela on as a sub? Perhaps. Merida may make the squad as well. He might be useful next Tuesday too.

Leboss said it in his press conference today…They are both fit and available for the squad…He has said that sol will play and confirmed the game will need 100 per cent focus and tha the league is still a priority of the club….

i will take that bet…i think that bendtner may be rested for eduardo and clichy for traore but diaby and nasri will defnitely play…

  33. damstar says:

@ goonerdan…..is a good news if both clichy and denilson are fit….but thinking ahead for the barca game, it is not a good idea to risk diaby and nasri against wolves..esp diaby bcos we know that he is injury prone and he will be needed badly against barca if we are to have any chance against them and also nasri especially now that arshavin and fabregas wont be availble for a long time..so we must try to use nasri with caution from now on until the season is over….campbell should also be rested bcos i think song did better against barca in the midfield before he was moved back to the denfence..and we all know that sol cant play two games in four days…so is advisable to preserve him for barca and by that we can move song back to the midfield alongside diaby and nasri at the nou camp….i think this is a good idea that wenger has to look into…but in arsene we trust…up guuners!!

@ Damstar… I would agree that due to injuries the importance of keeping our better players fit is now more important but ask yourself this…If Cesc was fit do you think he would play tomorrow vs Wolves…the answer is absolutely yes…Arsene takes each game as it comes and although i think there may be a couple of changes i.e. in the full back areas and up front i do not think there will be a lot…

As for Sol arsene has said that he will play tomorrow vs wolves..I think he will also star vs barca…

  36. damstar says:

yes of course if cesc was fit, he will play aginst wolves since he has already be banned for the return leg…yes i agree with u that clichy really need to be rested tomorrow..traore should come in….as for sol, fingers crossed…but with the injuries we got now, we have to make use of this squad carefully so that we wont get more injuries in the future..especially nasri and diaby i will keep stressing it nasri and diaby must be used with caution as from now on till the season is over cos we have no more arshavin and fabregas…any long term injury to any one of nasri or diaby, we are fucked… totally fucked esp with man city and toteham still coming up…but i pray this wont happen to this players and to any one of our players as from now on till the season is over…the last thing we need now is another injury to the remaining key players…God keep us fit!!!!!up gunners

yea i think van persie will be targetting the man city game so bad…him and arshavin will play that game and hopefully we are still in the title race at that time…we are really short at the back right now..if we can get someone like djourou or gallas available for the remainder of the season i will be so happy even without cesc….i read that wenger said on february 4 dat he is still two months away and now is two months but we dont hear anything about him…i wish those press can ask wenger wats going on with djourou…

Our starting XI will be with remaining players, after that terrible Wednesday (battle) match, better said, an XI with our bench players, like Vela, Silvestre, Traore, Eboue, Rosicky, and maybe Fabianski….Anyway we will win 2-0 at least, waiting for a draw between ManU & Cheski (I’m sure that ManU is able to win that match…)
If Arsene doesn’t care of Vermaelen & Song, we will lose next match against Barca before kick off…

we are not the only and certainly not the last team to suffer injuries like this, look at how united went through when their defense was wiped out, no vidic, ferdinand, oshea, we can do the same thing, but we just got to take one game at a time, i am sure that walcott will score the early goal at nou camp.

First, why is everyone putting deni and song to start in midfield together, we don’t need 2 D-mids there. Second, if we don’t win against Wolves then our season is fucked, therefore we can’t rest all our best players. The small chance we have of beating barca won’t be decreased that much if nas or sol is unavailable, however if we loose song, we’re deffinitely done. Anyway I got nasri, bendy, walcott, deni, rosicky or vela, verm and eboue to start, rest clichy and maybe song (or play him at defense which is easier physically then DM). That should be good enough, eddy hasn’t been playing at all so I wouldn’t throw him in to start
