Happy Birthday Cesc!
Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas is 23-years-old today.
Everyone at Gooner Talk would like to wish the Spaniard a very happy birthday, and future success at the Emirates.
Mini-Bio of Cesc’s Arsenal career so far:
Having spent his formative years at Barcelona’s La Masia training facility, Fabregas moved to English Premier League side Arsenal in 2003 and made his first team debut in the League Cup at just 16-years-old.
Although he rarely featured in that debut season, Fabregas quickly forced his way into the first team the following season and in the six seasons since, he has averaged 44 appearances per season for the Gunners. He has also averaged almost eight goals and 14 assists per season in that time and was made club captain in November 2008. Although an FA Cup medal is so far his highest club honour, the influential midfielder was a European Championship winner with Spain in 2008, featuring in UEFA’s Team of the Tournament.
The PFA Young Player of the Year for 2007/08, Fabregas has been the subject of seemingly endless speculation linking him with a return to Barcelona, despite regularly committing to the Gunners. To date, Fabregas has 47 caps for Spain.

Us and City linked with Buffon. Could suit us if City buy him, then there would be less need for Joe Hart to stay. Deep down I know its unlikely but I think Wenger needs to go all out for Hart. Be a signing a lot of our fans would get behind.

@ Angry fan No they won’t. This is perfect. Now Spurs have the chance to embarrass themselves again by losing to some 2nd tier European team in qualifying. Never underestimate Sp*rs capacity to implode. A draw is enough anyway, if we can’t manage that against a heavily distracted Fulham side then we don’t deserve the Champions League at all.

@ an arse worth having. I do hope ur right. But some how I very much doubt it. The yids were outstanding at the back today. Just imagine how truely great we would be with even 3 out of that back 5. (kaboul, king, gomes, verminator and clichy) now that would win the champions league and league. No danger. Think about it. Only the truely outstanding teams throughout history have outstanding defences. At this point we do not posses that. Going forward yes. I believe ours rivals some of best attacking players in the world but the back is well below the standard needed.
@Angry fan: I’m not an ‘Arsene Knows’ fan, but provided he takes the Fulham match seriously, we SHOULD finish 3rd. Like you I will be angry if we don’t finish above the yids and if our defence does not significantly improve next season. I think we all agree a new keeper and CB are essential at the very least. On the flipside who would you let go?
@ an arse worth having. Where do I start? I would have a total clear out. Get the dead wood out. Starting with Silvestre (why did we buy him), both the clowns in goal, eduardo, denilson, and maybe sagna. Alot of the players are there for the ride now, I feel some of the players could turn it around if they sort there attitudes out. In this i would include diaby, Arsharvin. And I do feel jack (The savior) wilshire is totally ready to start for us. Either centrally or wide. We need more English players in the team. I would go all out to sign cahill from Bolton. Might not be the best technically but makes up for in effort and aggression. Something which we lack. What about u?
Oh and I feel either hart or Buffon in goal. I think we needs players of this level to give the players real belief in games. Belief is a key factor to winning. And players of this class would help lift the place and help keep the “better players” at the club. If we don’t do this I’m convinced we will lose cesc. And that would be so not good.
@Angry fan: I’d get rid of at least Fabianski Silvestre and one of Vela and Eduardo. Problem with Denilson is he’s not a DM. I’d give him 1 more season but not as cover for Song. Totally agree with Cahill as a target. I know that we’ll be lucky to get 3 signings including Chamakh, but I’d go with Hart, Cahill and Nolan. Controversial last choice I know, but we’ve got so much technical ability and so little grit (minus Fab, Vermaelen, etc.) that I think he’d be worth the gamble. Fingers crossed eh?

If we didn’t have Silvestre this season, we would literally have one fit CB.So, in retrospective, it was a decent signing and im sure some of the younger players have learnt a thing or two from him. Also, none of the players you’ve mentioned will leave, except maybe for Silvestre.
You want to finish above us? Then make sure your lot stay away from lasagne.
I gotta agree with angry fan, most of our players lack the heart & confidence to play for us.. Big clearence is most definetly something that is needed when it comes to fielding a strong starting eleven.

We all hate spuds,but I’m glad that now city will not tempt quality players with their millions as they play in Europa league. Star players will not join them.
over 500th appearances and bags of experience Jaasklainen is the keeper i want.
and at least 4 others with the same experience, otherwise we might just HAVE to take spurs serious for once
We won’t be getting 5 new players. Seriously, most of you need testing for mental abnormalities. Wenger has already said that there will be 2 or 3 players coming in MAX. So expect Chamakh and one more player, probably a Centre-Back. Forget the wholesale changes, it won’t happen. No new ‘keeper either.
i dont cahill is a good choice. we need some1 who is more physical. like a younger version of sol,lucio. actually thug shawcross is big n gd.
@J@CK: Sadly you’re probably right. I’d be half happy if we do buy a decent CB though. I also think that a ton of new players isn’t the answer. Just a shame that as you said, Wenger will most likely not bite the bullet and buy a new keeper as neither of the current two have a modicum of presence about them.
p.s. the mirror says we be buying D. Kiev’s Pape Diakhate for a cool 10 mill. Make of that what you will.

i no longer believe in whatever arsene wenger has to say. before you start saying i should support another trophy winning team pls hear me out. we have gone five years without winning anything; from plenty of injuries to buying young players to not investing in quality players, giving the same excuse year after year after year, when is this ever going to end. I love arsenal, but i am losing my respect for wenger because he knows the problem yet he is absolutely stubborn to do anything about it. I have not forgotten what he has done for the club over the years but that does not give him the license to do whatever he wants because of that. I will continually support arsenal but under wenger i only see this team as entertainers and no longer winners, they always use the same tactics every time and they so easily break when playing against more physical teams. I do not have any hope whatsoever that Arsenal as they are will even win a thing next season so i will not get my hopes high. Frankly i will not blame any of our star players if they decide to leave the club. But i sincerely hope i am proved wrong!!!!
