Arshavin & van Persie start final game + Chamakh could be at the match!

Andrey Arshavin returns to the Arsenal starting line-up for the last game of the season against Fulham.

Russian midfielder Arshavin hasn’t started a game since sustaining a calf injury against Barcelona in April.

French fullback Gael Clichy returns from injury, while an inexperienced bench includes Henri Lansbury who has been on loan at Watford this season.

A point would secure third place and automatic Champions League qualification for the Gunners, with Tottenham lurking behind in fourth.

Incoming striker Marouane Chamakh may be seen at the Emirates today and could be involved in the players’ Lap of Honour at full time.

The 26-year-old told journalist Pierre Menes:

“I’ve got a charity game [today], but I’ll try to get a plane to be at the game for the ceremony [Lap of Honour].”

Chamakh also revealed that he expects the transfer to be made official some time next week.

Arsenal’s Starting XI:

Fabianski
Sagna – Campbell – Silvestre – Clichy
Eboue – Diaby – Nasri
Walcott – van Persie – Arshavin

Subs: Mannone, Djourou, Gibbs, Eastmond, Merida, Lansbury, Vela.

Last game we’ll see lightbulb head Silvestre. he needs to put in a performance of a lifetime today.

Diaby is playing that defensive mid role, so he better be on top of his game today.

glad to see Lansbury on the bench

Diaby is the defensive midefielder? Expect the Defence to take a battering today then.

I have a question for all the people who know anything about Wojciech Szczęsny
Wojciech Szczęsny from the saves I saw him make today (youtube) looks better than any keeper I have ever seen in my life. HIs shot stopping is better than any keeper in the world and his bravery in front of goal is better than all our keeper combined.
He has been on loan at Brentford for a year where he proved his worth and if he was an outfield player then he would go straight into the team then why not a goalkeeper. We need a goalkeeper ( almunia and fabianski are not up for it ) so what’s the point of spending money on a Gk for a year or two years and then have Wojciech Szczęsny take over when he can take over now. He went on loan to prove himself and has proven himself beyond any shadown of doubt so why not give him a chance now rather after 1-2 years.

Rather than spending 7-8 millions on a GK wenger can spend money on a quality CB, Melo and CHamak is already coming and be done with it.

Why on Earth is Sylvestre playing again!Surely Djourou must be a better bet.If having regained fitness he is not considered to be a better partner for Campbell then he also needs to be shipped out and replaced.Hopefully the rest of the team realise that today matters and if they fail to beat this second string Fulham team, then their future Arsenal careers need to be carefully considered

I’d have to say no, or it would have been all over the net by now. No-ones mentioned him so he can’t have been there.
