Player Profile: Arsenal target Laurent Koscielny + video
Arsenal are still on the hunt for Lorient centre back Laurent Koscielny after preparing a second bid for the highly-rated defender.
Koscielny, 24, has been hugely impressive for the French side, leading them to a seventh placed finish, after moving from Tours for £1.2 million last summer.
Despite being born in France, Koscielny has applied for Polish citizenship to give him more international options but is yet to decide where his allegiances lie.
Wenger is currently in the market for another centre back as he faces a defensive exodus with William Gallas, Mikael Silvestre, and Philippe Senderos all expected to leave soon.

@john: They haven’t made the bid as far as I’m aware. I’d expect it to be in the region of £5-6 million.

Yep I was thinking the same thing. Hopefully wenger will sign 2 defenders and allow Koscielny to physically develop
I would personally like to have seen evidence of him defending, we have enough goal scorers! Our defence is our issue!!
he”s taller than Gallas n TV. being slim makes him pacey hence goals. i’d rather have him than Hangeland, who is slow and cumbersome.

He seems to be left-footed so he’s a cover for TV5
It means there will be another central defender joining arsenal as a cover for djorou as sol might leave for celtic
OR maybe nordveit will cover for djorou and Koscielny will be the last defender to be signed in the transfer market

Chris great post , you seem to know what your on about, the other blogs are utter trash. do you reckon another defender will join ad well as koscielny? We seem short on numbers at the back. I would take koscielny and diakhate the latter being highly rated in Europe it seems ….
2 years ago wenger sold gilberto, diarra, flamini, nd bought ramsey…… Maybey this year we’ll lose senderos, gallas, silvestre nd only bring in this guy… I hope not coz i think cahill looks like a real good sining

Simon Kjaer for 10 million euros is an absolute bargain. That kid is going to be amazing. He’d easily walk into our defence. Like the look of Koscielny, is an intelligent centre back
I think it would have been better to go for Gary cahil, his tall, excellant in the air which we ain’t and his a guy who’s not scared to put his foot in unlike our other defs. Plus his English and which is what we need someone with that passion at the back. Don’t forget he Also has prem experience which we need. And he wants to come to arsenal as well, I hope we to get him and that kosciely is just for cover and build him up so he be ready in a couple of seasons.
