Reports: Eduardo closing in on €7.5m Shakhtar move

Arsenal striker Eduardo is on the verge of completing a €7.5 million move to Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk, according to reports in Croatia.

The 27-year-old has never found his form since sustaining a horrific broken leg against Birmingham in February 2008. His 2009/10 campaign was also littered with small injuries, despite that he netted 5 goals and 7 assists.

Last week, Arsenal first team coach Boro Primorac admitted that the Brazilian-born Croatian frontman had a big decision to make on his future.

“I do not know what will happen to Dudu. Preparations are just beginning and I do not know whether he will go or stay. He just has to decide”

‘Dudu’ is arguably the Gunners fourth/fifth choice striker with the likes of van Persie, Bendtner, Chamakh, Walcott and Vela in the squad, so it’s no real surprise as to why he wants to get more playing time.

It’s expected that he’ll undergo a medical with Shakhtar on Monday before signing a contract worth €2.5 million with the Ukrainians.

Will be best for both parties i think.. Really nice guy dudu is but after the leg brake he was not the same.. shame really as he could have been a 20-30 goal a season striker.

I knew it that something was about to happened when he did not show up for the match yesterday. Kudos to Eduardo. Nice and decent man and a good player. Best of luck!!! Wenger wants Joe cole and Wright philips instead to make up for the home grown players. Not sure though just a guess.. The link was also saying something about Shawn Wright Philips to Arsenal………

If the rumours are true, then I would like to wish him the very best of luck.

Great shame. Arsenal career ended by a two bob piece of Brum Scum.
Now lets spend the money well Mr Wenger. So far our ins cost 10m and our outs 6m. Still plenty in the so called Wenger “war chest”.

what do people think of the jagielka thing? i think 16million would be too much for him but theres no doubt hes a good player. Sad to hear about DuDu possibly on his way.. but apparently this ‘free’s up’ space for joe cole to come? hmmmm…maybe. We still need a decent goalkeeper and another CB, i want to see frey coming in but he does look a little overweight?!

I think its a good deal for player and club really. Dudu has never recovered mentally to that leg break in my opinion. Yes hes lost a little physically too but its the mind thats not fully healed. To be honest i dont want the ‘freed up spot’ to go to Joe Cole, i want it to go to Wilshere and to a lesser extent Vela. Wilshere is ready lets use him. 16 mil for Jagielka ! hmmm well if hes the player Wenger wants then pay it…..but i reckon a better bet would be Gary Cahill at 11-13 mil … in saying that though Jags can play DM too so who knows

I wonder what has happened to the player who caused Eduardo’s horrendous injury?I hope he is rotting away in the reserves for any team.
Btw Ramsey was also injured in similar circumstances. Why are gunner players targetted.I hope the refs will be tough this coming season from the start of the match. Then such horrific injuries will be avoided.

didnt wenger say he wanted all new signings in place for the emirates cup at the end of this month? so hopefully over the next week we should know who else we are getting, if anyone.

Why would we sign someone else to replace Eduardo?

Main forward: RVP, Chamakh and Bendtner.

Left wing: Arshavin, Nasri, Vela and Rosicky.

Right Wing: Walcott, Arshavin, Nasri and Wilshere.

2 CMs spots: Cesc, Diaby, Ramsey, Denilson, Wilshere, Nasri, Rosicky…

    DM: Song, Denilson and Eastmond.

Not to mention, JET, Lansbury, Frimpong, Afobe and the rest.

I don’t see where Joe Cole fits in to be honest.

So first Wenger said Eduardo isnt leaving and that he is expecting a lot from him next season, and now theres roprts of him leaving and the first team coach indicating the same. So since Wenger also said there won’t be any attacking midfielders (or attacking players in general) signing with the club, could the departure of Eduardo mean we have Joe Cole signed up for us? Or possibly SWP instead?

we may get balotelli or lukaku now.(the latter the more likey. its a shame he is going it wasnt mentally it as formationally he did not adapt. remember 2009 when he came back he was really good but fitness wasnt the best, he was playing in a 4-4-2 now the 4-3-3 he doesnt have the pace to play on the wing nor the strength to play up top.

BUT good riddence to almunia who hopefully is going to athletico

Not big news but this could mean van the man gets the number 9 shirt, which still leaves the 10 shirt available. Biggest priority has to be a decent goalkeeper… come on arsene we cannot stick with the clowns

If the report is true, i wish him all the best. That brings me back to the issue of jersey numbering. I think Van should be given the #9, Arshavin #10, while Uncle Fab retains his #4 (fab 4).

I am sad that Dudu might be leaving. It’s a shame as I think he was the most natural finisher we had prior to his horrific injury. If this is the case I wish him all the best as he’s a great professional and an even greater human being. He was kicked out of the Premier League by a “thug”.

    @dan:

Dan, you really think the players you named is enough to win a major title?? Imo cole is better & more consistent then rosicky, denilson, diaby & vela & more experienced then wilshere so he would have a spot in our midfield. why wouldnt he? he may not be the best in the world but he gives the opposition a lot of trouble like he’s done to us on a few occasions.

This is a real shame. he could have so been a 25 – 30 goal a season striker everything was goin well till that day. if it hadnt of happend eddie would b our number 1 striker abd we would have won the league.
