Frimpong rewarded with start against Sturm Graz

Emmanuel Frimpong has been rewarded for his hard-working performance at Barnet by being given a place in the starting eleven against Austrian side Sturm Graz.

Frimpong, 18, is a product of the Gunners’ successful Hale End academy and manager Arsene Wenger is said to have been pleased by the youngster’s work ethic in training and on the pitch.

New signing Marouane Chamakh is handed a start upfront, while the World Cup players are not involved at all due to their lack of pre-match training.

Confirmed Starting XI & Subs

Fabianski
Nordtveit – Djourou – Vermaelen – Traore
Wilshere – Frimpong – Nasri
Walcott – Chamakh – Arshavin

Subs: Szczesny (GK), Koscielny, Gibbs, Eastmond, Lansbury, Rosicky, Emmanuel-Thomas.

He’s just come back from injury and you could see his arm bandaged in the training fotos, so i suspect thats the reason.

Hope Frimpong has another good game…I hope Almunia stays on the bench such is my concern that he might get sick again :-)

Impressed by Frimpong in this game.He looks a really energetic and tidy player. He keeps it simple, that is,he tackles, closes down, wins the ball and makes the simple pass to the creative players. He might be a good find; lets keep an eye on him as he might be the cover for Song.

I agree JET needs to hang around I’d like to see him move up the pecking order. He has size and skill. We can use him.

once again frimpong was outstanding. he never lost the ball and only got beat once. he constantly closed down play. top player for the future and far better than eastmond and even denilson in that role. nasri was excellent, as was jet. nordveidt also good.
