Arsenal force five past Shakhtar + Match Stats

Arsenal fans celebrated all six goals at the Emirates as Eduardo scored a late consolation in a 5-1 thrashing for his Shakhtar Donetsk side.

Both sides had won their two games going into this crucial Group H clash, but only Arsenal looked like the real deal in a scintilating performance in north London.

Alex Song and Samir Nasri gave the Gunners a two-goal cushion at half-time and their Ukrainian opponents crumbled after Cesc Fabregas added a third from the spot on the hour mark.

Jack Wilshere scored a fine fourth in the 66th minute, Marouane Chamakh made it five three minutes later and not even a consolation from Shakhtar could dampen the home fans’ spirits.

In fact they were up as one to applaud – it had been scored by former striker Eduardo, sold in the summer after struggling to recapture the form he showed before a horrific injury two seasons ago.
