“I only care about playing football,” admits Nasri

Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri has revealed that he would rather “concentrate on playing football” rather than discussing a new contract extension with the club.

The 23-year-old has had a stunning start to the season scoring seven times in his last seven appearances, including the opening goal in the 3-0 win over Manchester City at Eastlands last Sunday.

Recent reports have suggested that Nasri is close to signing a new long-term deal at the Emirates, but the player himself admits that he prefers to focus on the footballing side of things.

“I leave all this stuff [contract talks] to my representatives, I only care about playing football,” Nasri told Canal +.

Nasri, who is a regular in the France national team, joined Arsenal in a £12million switch from Marseille two years ago.

    The picture above is indicative of the warm relationship the manager has with his players. That is what is special about Arsenal–a relationship based on mentoring young men as opposed to just using them and throwing them out the door when their usefulness is over. Well-done guys!!

    my favourite player. i hope he decides to see out his career at arsenal

    but representatives are evil, unless they really do have the player’s interest at heart. i hope samir, or his agents, will agree to a relatively fair wage

    He really can be a legend. Honestly believe that he doesn’t get the plaudits he deserves. He’s a great player that for some reason has kind of stayed under the radar when it comes to the fans. Would far rather see him in the first eleven at the moment than Arshavin!!!

    Samir is special as both playmaker and finisher. Arshavin has a similar role but seems to have lost his hunger and consistency. He still has an important team role that he fulfils.
    Samir has an extraordinary dribbling skill as well as an instinct for goal and appears to glide over the ground with his pace and control. He is probably the most underrated offensive midfielder in the league.
    Carlos Vela is a natural finisher and needs games to sharpen his instincts. He needs to get match fitness and will be productive in terms of goals. He combines well with Bendtner as they seem to have a natural understanding.

    Anyone that dares to criticize Arshavin – first look at his statistics. The guy is as efficient as ever. Stop moaning!

    Nasri is quality but dont dismiss Arshavin, he has the mosts assists in the league so far this season. We need the whole team! Up the gunners!

    I agree with NeverGoner. Arshavin has been quality, he’s been as efficient if not more than Nasri. Arshavin creates more chances for everyone on the team than anyone.

    I totally disagree because he has missed lots and lots of goal, and some times when we miss the most. I prefer nasri over arshavin anytime and nasri still have much more to show at arsenal.

    @caligunna16:

    i would go for Squillaci and have djourou rested because he is not yet there physically at the back. West Ham have good and strong guys at the back. Whoever begins to compare Nasri and Arshavin does not believe in team spirit.
    arshavin , thought has missed several chances at goal, plays a key role in the team. Nasri is a fighter and wins the ball all time.we love you Arsenal.
