Borussia Dortmund chief rubbishes Bendtner rumours

Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are not interested in signing another striker this summer, according to their general manager Michael Zorc.

The 23-year-old has openly stated that he is looking for a new club after an increasingly uncertain year due to Robin van Persie’s goalscoring top form last season and the arrival of Moroccan frontman Marouane Chamakh in the summer.

Dortmund have a plethora of frontmen in their team already and Zorc admits that any rumours linking them with a move for Bendtner are unfounded.

“I told you after the season that we do not have any intention to sign another striker,” Zorc said on Friday. “Why should I change my mind because of someone’s [the press’] opinion?”

Copenhagen-born Bendtner has not been a fans favourite since returning back from a loan spell at Birmingham in 2007, although his height up front has proved to be a useful weapon when needed.

So Bendtner’s dad claimed that Sporting Lisbon and Borussia Dortmund had both bid for Bendtner. Now both have bluntly denied any interest whatsoever, and it seems he is finding it difficult to find any takers. Could be awkward if he stays after saying he wants to leave ‘100%’

I dont care if he stays or goes, as long as he accepts he is not and should not be first choice. If he knuckles down and competes with RVP, Chamakh, Walcott, Arshavin, Gervinho, Afobe, Sunu, Murphy and Vela for the lone striker role then so be it.

Just like Walcott, Gervinho, Vela, Nasri, Arshavin, Chamberlain, JET, Rosicky, Alvarez, Watt, Sunu, Freeman look like competing for the wide strikler roles.

However, should we need to shift Bendtner (and Denilson, Almunia, Rosicky, Squillaci) cos we do not have a place for him in our 25 man squad then that is different. I would be quite happy to see him go on loan, somewhere, as a centre forward and prove that he has the quality he has always boasted about.

Everybody, lets all laugh at Wenger. Bendtner, Denilson, Almunia, Squillacci will not even get into Wigan’s team.

Can only agree. Wenger has accumulated a few `also rans` and now it looks like he`s going to have them stuck on his wages bill or buy out their contracts (if they have one). There`s always Oxfam or the Salvo`s they`re usually good at getting rid of unwanted items.

The sad thing is we won’t be laughing next season when we are still paying their wages…..
