VIDEO: Gervinho’s goal sends Ivorians into AFCON final

A superb solo goal from Arsenal forward Gervinho put Ivory Coast into the African Nations Cup final, as The Elephants won 1-0 against Mali in the semi-final.

François Zahoui’s talented side fought a hard-battled game but finally got their goal just before half-time after Gervinho sprinted 30 metres into the Mali penalty area, before finishing with aplomb.

Gervinho’s goal proved to be the most exciting moment in what proved to be a drab semi-final, with neither team looking like scoring during the first 45 minutes.

The 24-year-old, signed from Lille last summer for £10.8 million, has impressed at Arsenal so far this season tallying up 5 assists and 4 goals.

Ivory Coast will now will meet Zambia in Sunday’s final in Libreville.

Gervinho is 24, not 25 btw.

Also it was a good finish, but horrible defending by Mali. Can’t wait for Gervinho to get back for Arsenal!

Everyones saying how when Gervinho returns AW will drop The Ox. I think its more likely Walcott’ll get the axe …if anyone
