Squillaci likely to leave Arsenal on a free transfer

Sebastien Squillaci is currently negotiating with Arsenal to terminate his contract by mutual agreement, with several French top-flight clubs showing keen interest in the 31-year-old defender.

Squillaci, whose contract expires next summer, moved to Emirates Stadium on a three-year deal in 2010 was deemed surplus to manager Arsene Wenger’s plans last summer but a permanent move never came to fruition despite tentative interest from AS Monaco.

Newly-promoted Ligue 1 side SC Bastia are favourites to land Squillaci due to the Frenchman’s Corsican links, while Stade Brest have also been linked.

Ex-Sevilla centre back Squillaci has made just 23 appearances since arriving from Spain in 2010.

One of Arsenal’s worst buys. So I won’t be sorry to see him go, but I just hope that we pick up some decent back up defenders soon.

Journey mercies bro,
please leave the door open on your way out.
To allow some fresh air in.
Although you did what Messi hasnt done and maybe can’t ever do.
Scoring in a cold night at StokeCity.
You won’t be missed believe me.
Thanks…and NO THANKS.

this means arsene will be looking for a new centre-back. really good… or he will simply use miquel or bartley next season. however, it will be good for arsenal

I just hope that Wenger brings in a quality defender as a replacement.

As Vertognon hasn’t officially been signed and Redknapp is gone we should make him our number one priority when Squillacci leaves
