Giroud medical pencilled in for next week

Olivier Giroud will complete his move to Arsenal after undergoing a medical at the Gunners’ London Colney training ground early next week, according to reports in France.

The 25-year-old Ligue 1 top scorer hit 21 goals in 36 league games to send his side to an unexpected first ever league title in France last season.

Despite this recent success, Giroud has expressed his desire to sign for the Gunners according to his own manager, René Girard, who talked to French radio station RMC last week.

Following France’s exit from Euro 2012, Giroud is now ready to put sign on a four year deal, with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger getting his man for a reported bargain price of £9.6 million (12 million euros) after invoking a release clause in the player’s contract.

Giroud will be Arsenal’s second established signing of the summer following in the footsteps of Germany forward Lukas Podolski.

Good addition, we need new strikers to replace the incompetent ones which we have had in previous seasons, like chamakh, bendtner, vela and park. Now that with podolski and giroud, our strike force is awesome provided that RvP stays. We would have one of the most fearsome strike force in the league and in Europe. Add Walcott and Campbell in as well. As for midfielders, we have wilshere coming back and M’vila looking to join, we are definitely going places next season. A midfield of wilshere arteta and M’vila is awesome!! Defense is good as well provided that djourou stays,… Read more »
