‘Kroenke is backing Wenger and so am I’, admits Hill-Wood

Wenger

Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has reiterated his support for under-fire manager Arsene Wenger and revealed that majority shareholder Stan Kroenke is also backing the Frenchman.

Wenger’s side were knocked out of the FA Cup at the weekend against Championship opposition and face an almost impossible task in the Champions League tonight where they host German giants Bayern Munich.

However, Hill-Wood believes Wenger is the right man for the job despite eight trophyless years and confirmed that he has the support of the board – including American billionaire Kroenke.

“You hear clubs being criticised for sacking their manager too quickly. Now there are people out there calling for us to sack a manager who has been a huge success for 15 years.

“That does not help much. I have been extremely disappointed by some of the recent results. I have been an Arsenal fan for a lot longer than most so I think I know what it feels like. It hurts a lot and I am sure Arsene is hurting too.

“He is very diplomatic and calm but deep down he feels very strongly and he is as upset as anyone.

“It’s not just me who is backing Arsene. [Major shareholder] Stan Kroenke is very supportive too.”

Of course Hill-Wood and Kroenke would back Wenger is for the simple reason he saves them money on big named transfers by buying cheap immitations and Kroenke is known to lose as none of his so called American Football teams in the US are all losers and in fact I believe a couple of them have actually gone bust, so that says a lot for Arsenal Football Club with him in charge!!!

Its true wenger does earn the club money and the players bought aren’t up to scratch, but i believe theres a good team somewhere beneath the poor results we have had. Im split at the moment as i was at the fa cup match against blackburn and could believe what i saw. But who is better equipped at the moment to succeed wenger? I think if we keep this team together for next season minus the second rate players (squillaci, arshavin, santos, gervinho chamakh) and buy a few good players we can challenge again. Wengers only got 1 year after this one maybe we need to hold off from the ‘wenger out’ chants until next season. 8 years without a trophy is bad but check arsenal’s history we’ve had plenty of barren years without trophys! we had to wait 18 years without in trophy from 71-89 so we need to look at things in perspective: great stadium, potentially great players and in a good financial state. If we fail next season then without a doubt change is needed, hill-wood is right we cant jusy weild the axe just like that

Truth is, another couple of years run by the inept gazidis, , the idiot from eton, and demented wenger, , not to mention the cash plundering kroenke, and we won’t be far off Leeds or Sheffield Wednesday

They back him because Wenger is too much of a workaholic & saves them £millions by doing many roles whilst Stan, PHW & the rest do nothing. Arsene should go back to being just a football manager again.
