Ryo 'hid injury' because he was 'desperate' to play in Japan

Arsenal’s Japanese youngster Ryo Miyaichi didn’t tell the club’s medical stuff about a hip injury he had sustained because he was ‘desperate’ to be involved in the Gunners’ Asia pre-season tour of his homeland.

The 20-year-old was determined to play Japanese side Nagoya Grampus during Arsenal’s second leg of their Asia tour, but has now paid the price for hiding his injury with the news that he’ll miss the next fortnight.

Miyaichi, who only recently returned from long-term injury, is considered one of the north Londoners hottest prospects since being plucked from relative obscurity in January 2011.

“He is injured. He has a crack in the rib that he got in Japan in the first game. He hid it from us because he was desperate to play in Japan”, revealed Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

“At the moment he is injured for two weeks.”
