Martinez: ‘Drawing against Arsenal was better than beating United’

Everton manager Roberto Martinez says that his team’s draw against Arsenal was ‘better’ than the Toffees’ stunning win at Manchester United last week.

Martinez’s side, who have only lost once this season, secured a point against Arsene Wenger’s men after substitute Gerard Deulofeu cancelled out Mesut Özil’s opener on Sunday evening.

Fifth placed Everton won at Old Trafford last week for the first time in 21 years but Martinez suggested in his post-match press conference that the draw against Arsenal was better than winning at the home of last season’s Premier League champions.

This time last year Manchester United were 15 points clear of Arsenal – an emphasis of how each side has had contrasting fortunes in the league so far this season.
