Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna will meet with his agent next week and potentially make a decision on his future at the club.

The 31-year-old is out of contract in the summer and has failed to agree terms of an extension to stay on with Arsene Wenger’s side.

Several European sides including Inter Milan are interested in signing the French international, while Liverpool remain keen on bringing Sagna to Anfield as a replacement for Glen Johnson.

“I’ve been playing there for seven years and I hope we will end up on something good”, Sagna told reporters in December.

“First of all I want to finish as champion because we have got a good opportunity to do it this year, and after we will see.”

Wenger recently hinted that his hopes of keeping Sagna at the club are fading after admitting there has been minimal progress towards since he was offered an extension.

Sagna, who remains the club’s first choice right-back, has made over 200 appearances for Arsenal since joining the north Londoner’s from Auxerre in 2007.

Both Sagna and goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski look likely to leave Emirates Stadium this summer with the latter also rejecting a contract extension due to lack of playing time.

On the fence. He’s getting old now so we need to give a younger player a run in the team, but he is still top class

Sagna for your own good I suggest you stay with Arsenal as long they treat you fairly in financial terms. When you reach a certain age like above 30 teams are practical and reluctant to invest in us. Stay with Arsenal that still appreciate you. The next club may only treat you as second choice at best. Just look at RvP who after one year already expereince some problem.

Yes, BUT the point is, are the youngsters in Arsenal ready for the top level challenge? NO. CJ looked prospective 2 seasons ago but in the matches he played since last season he is still far from desirable and he made quite a few mistakes. Arsenal need to buy a top class replacement for Sagna if we want to remain in competitions for the titles.

I would sell him and go and buy micah richards for 8-10 MILLION. He’s an outstanding right back who peforms exceptionally when given the chance and would also provide genuine cover for centre back. Sagna has been a great servent but if i was wenger and he wanted to leave i wouldn’t stand in his way.
