Lukas Podolski has revealed that he settled in so quickly at Arsenal thanks to his close relationship with the club’s supporters.

The German international has established an excellent rapport with the Arsenal fanbase since arriving from FC Köln two seasons ago.

Podolski, who made 27 appearances and scored 12 goals for Arsene Wenger’s side last season, also lauded the ‘fantastic’ away fans who follow the Gunners’ across the country.

“It was perfect from the start”, Podolski told the German FA’s official website.

“I have felt the warmth of the Arsenal fans in London from day one and I’m lucky that my open style went down so well with them.

“Our away fans are fantastic. I think the fans realise that I am a person who identifies with the team, the club and the fans.

“The interaction with the fans is very important to me, especially when Arsenal fans are part of the club, the centrepiece.”

Podolski admitted in April that he could be interested in a move back to his former side Köln, where he owns an executive box, but brushed aside recent speculation of a transfer away from Arsenal by in siting his future is at the Emirates.

Arsenal are expected to recruit another striker this summer with Olivier Giroud and Yaya Sanogo currently Wenger’s only recognised senior centre forward’s. Real Madrid starlet Alvaro Morata has been linked, while QPR’s Loic Remy remains another target due to his £8m release clause.
