Spanish daily Marca claims Arsenal will buy-back former striker Carlos Vela

Real Sociedad striker Carlos Vela will re-join Arsenal this summer, according to Spanish daily Marca.

The Mexican forward left the Gunners for Sociedad on loan in 2011 before sealing a permanent transfer in 2012.

Marca’s report claims that Arsenal have sent a letter to Sociedad officials informing the San Sebastián side of their intention to activate the €4 million (£3.5m) buy-back clause in Vela’s contract.

Last season saw Vela enjoy his most impressive season of his career in La Liga – netting 14 times in 37 appearances despite playing predominantly on the right wing.

Reports in other Spanish media outlets suggest that Arsenal may have a different motivation altogether for activating the buy-back clause in the 25-year-old’s contract.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is thought to be keen on signing Vela’s Sociedad teammate Antoine Griezmann and he could be involved as a ‘makeweight’ in any potential deal.

Really hope we bring back Vela. Always been a big big fan of his. Very versatile and is generally a class act. Rather him then Griezmann in my opinion. And that’s before taking the quoted transfer fee’s for the two of them.

Vela for under 4 million pounds would be the signing of the season in my mind.

  3. BEN says:

Yea…a bargain player rather than the one we truly need. Wenger penny pincher….

  4. ruelando says:

He is a far better signing than the griezmann chap, who may have more experience than ox or gnabry but physically will not manage english league, without taking the whole season to settle.
Vela already knows the league, can fill several positions and is physically prepared for the league and last but not least CHEAP

  5. BEN says:

We can and SHOULD do better than Vela. 14 goals in 37 games in a non-physical league with a calendar far less demanding, you find that impressive? Where are your standards Gunners? We’re not Newcastle, we’re freakin Arsenal
