Arsenal new-boy Alexis Sanchez will wear the no.17 shirt for the club next season, it has been confirmed.

The Chile star completed a medical and agreed a four-year contract with the option of a further 12 months earlier this afternoon following several weeks of negotiations Barcelona and Arsenal officials.

Gooner Talk understands that Sanchez requested Nacho Monreal’s no.17 shirt when he arrived at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground and the Spaniard agreed to change his number to 18 after being told about the forward’s imminent transfer after training today.

Sanchez’s squad number announcement follows left-back Kieran Gibbs being handed the no.3 shirt after Bacary Sagna’s departure to Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is close to making his second signing of the summer with Atlético Madrid defender Javier Manquillo set to join on a season-long loan.

Wenger is also set to seal the transfer of Newcastle right-back Mathieu Debuchy, and it’s expected that Manquillo will play understudy to the Frenchman next season with Carl Jenkinson going out on-loan.

Sweet, I like the aesthetics of it. Nice of Monreal to be accomodating also, these things can cause a stir sometimes.

Also noteable that Gnabry has moved to 27.

Not that I`m complaining but someone should check Arsene`s hotel bed for bed bugs. Since arriving in Brazil he has been on the move twenty four hours a day. Maybe it`s the heat or the hot chicks but something certainly got his A into G.
