Arsenal aim to bring in three players by Community Shield clash

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is hopeful of adding ‘at least three players’ to his squad before the Community Shield clash with Manchester City next month.

The Gunners have already signed Chile forward Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona for £32m, while moves for Colombia goalkeeper David Ospina and Newcastle right-back Mathieu Debuchy are likely to be completed within the next few days.

Wenger wants to conclude his transfer business before the match at Wembley Stadium so he has enough time to prepare his preferred starting XI and squad ahead of the crucial Champions League play-off first leg match on August 26/27.

2014 FA Cup winners Arsenal will have played 5 competitive matches, including the Champions League qualifier, by the time the transfer window shuts at midnight on August 31st.

Traditionally, the club have left their business late in previous transfer windows – the summer of 2011 saw Wenger bring in Mikel Arteta, Per Mertesacker, Yossi Benayoun and Andre Santos during the final hours of deadline day.

However, the Frenchman, alongside chief executive Ivan Gazidis and transfer fixer Richard Law, have been working overtime on bringing in the players needed for next season and remain confident that three more players will be signed by the time Arsenal play City at Wembley.

The goalkeeper and right-back positions (Ospina and Debuchy) are both close to being strengthened, while defensive midfield is another issue that Wenger wants resolved within the next few weeks.

Veteran midfielder Mikel Arteta is set to be used sporadically next season, while Wenger isn’t convinced that Abou Diaby will stay injury free for the whole season. Sami Khedira, Lars Bender and Morgan Schneiderlin have all been linked – with the latter now reported to be in pole position to join the north London giants.

Sami Khedira is what we want. Don’t let Chelsea to hijack the deal. If we can get Karim Benzema or Dzeko nothing like it. With Walcott, Giroud, Sanchez, Podolski, The Ox Dzeko, Ozil, Ramsey, Cazorla and the Back four you have a champion team. Give yourself a selection headache and get us the league Trophy. League cup and FA cup. The champions league can wait for next season.

Arsenal should sign Veratti instead of khedira….Bender is also ok with me but Veratti is a small beast..
And Griezmann instead of Cuadrado…

I can’t believe people are still talking about a striker when we only have 3 central defenders (one of which wants to leave). I’m not including Djourou either as he wants to stay with Hamburg. What happens if Per or Laurent pick up a red card or, heaven forbid, an injury? I can’t see Loic Remy keeping too many clean sheets. We need a central defender, probably 2.

Actually Sami khedira is a good choice but Lars bender is still young and talented so arsenal lets go for Lars bender
