Arsenal are set to complete the transfer of Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy in the next 48 hours, with the player expected to undergo a medical at London Colney on Sunday.

The England international is set to travel to France in the coming days with the Three Lions ahead of their European Championship game next Saturday up against Russia.

It was heavily reported on Friday evening that the 29-year-old’s release clause of £21m had been met by Arsene Wenger – who back in December admitted that the centre forward was worth at least £30m.

With Claudio Ranieri confirming to Gazzetta dello Sport that all of the talk linking Vardy to the north London side is true, Goal have now reported that the Leicester star is expected to undergo his medical on Sunday.

Vardy scored an impressive 24 goals last season as he helped Leicester to stun the rest of the Premier League and win the division, 10 points clear of Arsenal.

What a fantastic signing if it in fact goes through. Just what the doctor ordered. Jamie has pace and guile and is real grafter who will work his socks off for the side. Undoubtedly worth more than $30,000,000 he is a brilliant pick up for the ever shrewd monsieur Wenger. All that’s needed is the addition of a top quality centre partner for Koscielny and I believe that the gunners will be very warm favourites for the premier title that has proved so elusive in recent years.
