Juventus director Beppe Marotta has revealed that Arsenal have rejected a bid from the Italian giants for Alexis Sanchez.

The Chilean has been heavily linked with a transfer to the Serie A side this summer and reports were rife with talk that he wanted the move away from north London due to the club’s lack of ambition.

With Juventus capable of challenging for glory at the highest European level every season, it had been reported that Alexis was interested in the move to Turin, though Marotta, as reported by Football Italia, has confirmed that the 27-year-old will be remaining at Arsenal this summer.

“Arsenal told us Alexis Sanchez is not on the market.

“Sanchez is a great player, but Arsenal told us he is not on the market.

“We had asked for the player’s price-tag and Arsenal valued him at €40m, a sum that we considered reasonable.

“However, once we replied to their demand, the English club let us know that he was not for sale.”

Arsene Wenger has been attempting to tie Alexis down to a long-term contract for a number of seasons, with the ex-Barcelona winger having just two seasons remaining on his current deal – similar to that of German superstar and record signing Mesut Ozil, whose deal also runs out in the summer of 2018.
