Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy will join Galatasaray on loan next week, after the two clubs agreed a deal.

GoonerTalk’s Chris Wheatley reports that the 31-year-old French defender will make the move to Turkey once Arsenal’s pre-season tour of Scandinavia is complete.

Debuchy fell out-of-favour with the north London side because of his injury problems, which led to Hector Bellerin being thrown into first-team action at just 19-years-old and proving himself to be a more than useful player.

The good form of the Spaniard saw him earn a place in the 2015/16 Premier League Team of the Season, while Debuchy has made just 22 appearances for the club.

Arsenal have the likes of Carl Jenkinson, Calum Chambers and Chiori Johnson to provide adequate back-up to Bellerin, meaning Debuchy can be easily replaced.

Supporters and seemingly Arsene Wenger have grown frustrated with the Frenchman’s performances, including during this pre-season period where he has looked less than convincing from a defensive point of view.

The move to Galatasaray for the season ahead will provide him with opportunity to reignite his career, with a permanent deal likely to be agreed after.
