Arsenal favourites to sign £60m striker

Arsenal are all set to battle Atletico Madrid for Olympique Lyonnais’ Alexandre Lacazette, according to multiple reports

The 25-year-old has been a long-term target for Arsenal, having nearly signed for the Gunners last summer before a failed bid brought about an end to their hopes.

The Frenchman has hit 23 goals in 24 Ligue 1 games so far, making it clear that he isn’t a season wonder but a superstar in the making. His growing stature and comparisons with Thierry Henry have directly impacted his demand, with Atletico Madrid being the latest to join his long list of admirers.

Diego Simeone’s side are almost resigned to lose Antoine Griezmann, whose transfer to the Premier League is seemingly inevitable. The Argentine has therefore decided to go in for Lacazette, who may well be the “next Henry” – their seem to be a few of those.

Arsenal, on the other hand, are staring at a striker crisis themselves as Alexis Sanchez edges closer to a move away from The Emirates Stadium. Shall the Chilean decide in favour of a move away, it could be Alexandre Lacazette who replaces him.
