Long-term Arsenal target, Alexandre Lacazette has confirmed that he is set to leave the club, although it is thought that the Frenchman will head to Atletico Madrid rather than the Gunners.

Arsene Wenger has been an admirer of the Frenchman and did indeed try to sign him last year, albeit for a much lower price than Lyon were looking for. The 25-year-old has been of the best strikers in Europe over the last few years and has scored 35 goals in 44 games for Lyon this year but will decide to join Atletico Madrid.

Speaking to L’Equipe, Lacazette confirmed his desire to leave Lyon, with Atletico Madrid as a possible destination.

“I think it’s the right moment. I want to discover something else, to put myself under pressure, to see if I can answer the questions that people are asking and to gain a level.”

“It would be a beautiful story if we could go on (to play) together.”

“It is a great team [Atletico], in a new stadium, and it is also a club that makes the players progress.”

With Arsenal fans soon renewing their season tickets, they want to think twice as the club’s number one target looks set to snub the Gunners.
