Media Gallery: Alexis Sanchez returns to training as Arsenal prepare for Community Shield

Arsenal trained today, ahead of their Community Shield game against Chelsea this weekend.

The Gunners are going into their final game of the pre-season and although it’s a match that made not be regarded as a legitimate trophy, Arsene Wenger will want to build some valuable momentum and form before their opening game against Leicester City.

Alexis Sanchez returned to the club today, amid claims that the Chilean is pushing for a move away and indeed pushed back his return to Arsenal due to illness. While his contract situation may not be resolved, Arsene Wenger will be hoping for a fit and firing Sanchez going into the season, especially if Arsenal manage to remains his services for at least another year.

Away from Sanchez’s return, Arsenal welcomed back Shkodran Mustafi, while Jack Wilshere also continued his rehab from injury. In Mustafi’s case, it is unlikely that he’ll make it for this weekend’s game but with a full squad to work with, now really is the time for the Gunners to step up their preparations ahead of the new season.
