Arsenal gifted green light in pursuit of AS Monaco ace

With Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp reluctant to splash out £90m on AS Monaco’s Thomas Lemar – according to a report published by The Times, (via Metro) – Arsenal have been given the green light to make a second attempt to land the French forward, after failing to do so in the summer transfer window.

It’s said that the Merseysiders believe that Lemar isn’t worth the required lofty figure, and though they’ve recently generated £142m from Philippe Coutinho’s sensational sale to FC Barcelona, the Reds allegedly only value Monaco’s winger at £60m.

So, with Liverpool ceasing their interest, the door has been jarred open for the Gunners to make an entrance, and with Alexis Sanchez nearing an exit at the Emirates, Arsene Wenger would be wise to bring his adoration of his fellow countryman to fruition.

Lemar is an intelligent offensive outlet with imperious vision, creativity and tenacity in his locker – though Liverpool seemingly do not agree, ‘Les Monégasques’ weighty price tag is certainly justified.

The 22-year-old was a leading protagonist in the 2015-16 campaign, when Monaco remarkably snatched the Ligue 1 title from Paris Saint-Germain’s usually domineering clutches. Lemar also helped his current employers reach the semi-final stage of the Champions League in the same season, a noteworthy feat which first introduced his talents to the planet, as well as the north-Londoners.

This term, though, Lemar has tallied 3 goals along with 4 assists, and whilst his standing record may not be the most prolific, he undoubtedly possesses the capacity to build upon it in the second half of the season, whether it be in the splendour of the Stade Louis II, or indeed the Premier League in Arsenal’s famous red jersey, perhaps.
