Amid Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s supposed switch to Arsenal during the January transfer window, the Express has revealed that Ivan Gazidis, the Gunners’ chief executive, has been spotted in Dortmund, Germany, to supposedly speed up and button-down a deal for Borussia Dortmund’s Gabonese attacker.

Allegedly with Huss Fahmy and chief scout Sven Mislantat – formally of BVB – in toe, Gazidis will hope that he’s got enough persuasion with him, and with Alexis Sanchez close to finalising a mid-season switch to Premier League rivals Manchester United, a definitive arrangement will need to be agreed upon fairly imminently.

Dortmund’s CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke confirmed earlier this week that the north-Londoners have already made an initial offer for the 28-year-old striker, despite Arsene Wenger’s recent claims that the proposed transfer situation was stagnant.

Although it’s understood that negotiations could become laborious if the two parties fail to understand each other’s demands as the Bundesliga outfit will demand £55m for ‘Auba’, who has been internally disciplined by the club on three separate occasions in just 15 months.

A move to English shores would certainly gift Aubameyang an opportunity to redeem his temperament, but though he’s endured multiple spells in the stands due to his conflicting behaviour, the vigorous hit-man has netted 21 times in just 23 appearances, a measure of his superior presence in-front of the target.

With a record as prolific as that, it’s clear to see why Gazidis and co. jetted themselves overseas to continue the club’s pursuit of the somewhat problematic marksman, and if he can replicate his accomplished form at the Emirates in the second-half of the campaign without interruptions, ‘Gooners’ will certainly be grateful that the relevant representatives literally went the extra mile to land their animated African target.
