Having made a mid-season switch to Chelsea from Arsenal in January, Olivier Giroud is aiming to claim his first Premier League title with the Blues after the French striker admitted that he has ‘unfinished business’ in England’s top-flight.

Prior to his sensational transfer deadline day jump to Stamford Bridge, Giroud managed to bag 3 FA Cup medals at the Gunners but indeed failed to lay his hands on a Premier League trophy, and though the 31-year-old’s reluctant to ‘wipe away’ his stint at the Emirates, the prospect of clinching such a coveted accolade with his new employers is an ‘ultimate goal’ of his.

Chelsea are the reigning champions of England having won the title last term, however it appears that they are on the verge of having their imposing status robbed from them by Pep Guardiola’s domineering Manchester City this term.

But as the south-west Londoners are an annual contender for various gongs, Giroud believes that he and his teammates will challenge for distinguished silverware under Antonio Conte’s command next season with a renewed sense of drive and ‘ambition’.

Speaking to SFR Sport – via a report published by Evening Standard – the scorpion-kicking hit-man revealed:

“I don’t know if we can really call it a regret but I have a little feeling of unfinished business because I would really have liked to have won the Premier League with Arsenal.

“You don’t just wipe away five-and-a-half years like that. I have said it often enough – it was my ultimate goal.

“Having said that, it’s not over, I’m still in the Premier League, now I’m at Chelsea. For this year, I think it’s over for the title, but next year, we’ll come to it with great ambitions.

“I still want to win it before I end my career.”
