Mesut Ozil makes fresh comments on his Arsenal future: report

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has stated that he has no ambition of parting ways with the Gunners at the present point of time and would like to see out the remainder of the current contract with the club.

The German has not been able to make regular goalscoring contributions for the Gunners for the past 18 months and this has led to regular speculation regarding his future with the side.

Prior to Mikel Arteta’s arrival, there was the indication that Ozil may not fit into the Spaniard’s plans due to the high workrate demands but that has not been the case with him able to command a starting spot in every game under the Spaniard.

Speaking exclusively to BeIN Sports, the 31-year-old has now said that he is ‘very pleased’ with the current contract situation at the club and he intends to stay put until the expiry of the deal (June 2021) at the least.

“I’m very pleased with my contract and I will continue here this season and next. I can’t tell you what the future will bring, I’m excited about the future, but I don’t know what’s going to happen,” he told.

Ozil has been more creative under the guidance of Arteta and he has been able to lay key passes to the frontmen, who have not been able to capitalise and find the net.

Apart from this, there are plenty of other positives with the German showing the intent to close down opponents and retrieve balls which was not visible under ex-boss Unai Emery.

Arsenal are scheduled to host Sheffield United in the Premier League this weekend. Ozil will need to play a key part to unlock the Blades defence, which has conceded just 10 goals from 11 away trips this term.
