McClaren: Arsenal Are The Best Premier League Side & New Look GoonerTalk!

FC Twente boss Steve McClaren has played down his sides chances of pulling off a shock win against Arsenal and he believes that the Gunners’ are the best footballing side in the Premier League.

The Gunners will travel to face the Dutch outfit in the first of two legs as red hot favourites, and McClaren concedes his side will have to produce something very special to win.

“They have Robin van Persie, Adebayor and Fabregas players who can score out of nothing. Especially with Van Persie, they have someone who’s fantastic in attack.”  McClaren told Twente’s official site

McClaren, 47, has had first-hand experience of the Gunners during his time with Middlesbrough and he knows what a dangerous threat Arsene Wenger’s men can pose.

“I know Arsenal well, they are the best footballing side in the Premier League on their day, and someone who can do you big damage,” he said.

“They are great footballing team. Arsene Wenger is building a dynasty and you have to be careful how you defend, all the team will have to defend very well to cause an upset.”

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger will be missing midfield maestro’s Cesc Fabregas (hamstring) and Samir Nasri (knee) as well as Kolo Toure (hip) and Abou Diaby (thigh). Summer signing from Cardiff City Aaaron Ramsey looks set to partner Denilson in central midfield while Johan Djourou passed a late fitness test after the Swiss international sustained a knock against Sevilla last Saturday.

Gooner Talk will publish a Match Report straight after the full time whistle along with Player Ratings and more.

Finally, Gooner Talk has had a makeover! This new-look, extended version of the blog is now live and can be found at www.goonertalk.com. Some of the new features include; new banner (thanks to Ben!) quick commenting, RSS feeds, post interaction and plenty more.

We also have a partnership with two up and coming sites, these are Phone Report – which gives you a daily dose of all the latest news, gossip, reviews and more on mobile phones and lastly Máquina do Dinheiro – which provides you with up to date news on Search Engine Optimisation, Marketing and much, much more; both sites worth checking out!

Site looks awesome Chris, well done.

Where did Cesc pick up his injury? Surely we have to purchase a new CM now?

Ramsey and Denilson as first choice CM's is definately a worry.

Cheers AR and Seagy.

I think he suffered it against Ajax, and was brought off late on as a precaution.

It`s important to score goals away from home in these double headers, everyone knows that. So, should Wenger opt for three strikers, pack the defense and use the long ball (not necessarily in the air) to feed them? With Adebayor, van Persie and Bendtner up front supported out wide by Wacott and Vela I think we could see some action. When we come home we would then employ the traditional mid field approach. How very un Arsenal ,but it`s goals that count.

Let's hope the umbrella man doesn't have the last laugh. Our injury situation is beginning to cause me some concern.

Yeah the site looks sick!! I agree with McClaren, Van Persie is so lethal; I reckon he's up there with Torres on his day.

Cheers Joe.

McClaren's a big fan of Arsenal and Wenger so it isn't a surprise he's complimenting them, but I do agree with him, we are the best footballing side on our day.
