Fulham's Paintsil Likely To Face FA Charge
|Fulham defender John Paintsil may regret his horror challenge on Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Eboue if the FA view television footage of the tackle which occured during the Gunners’ surprise 1-0 loss at Craven Cottage.
Several television pundits pointed out that Referee Martin Atkinson was in a good position to witness the hack-down, despite that, Atkinson failed to show a card and unbelievable gave a free kick Fulham’s way.
The FA, aware of the game’s tarnished image, having launched their new “Respect” programme, could show the film to Atkinson, whose view of the incident may have been obscured.
Arsenal had a day to forget at the Cottage, while Fulham led from the 21st minute, shortly after Robin van Persie missed a sitter when new boy Samir Nasri’s mis-kick from Theo Walcott’s cross left the Dutchman a gaping goal to aim at from eight yards.
Arsene Wenger’s side play the return leg of the Champions League third round qualifying against FC Twente on Wednesday evening with the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Philippe Senderos expected to be back for the tie in which Arsenal hold a 2-0 aggregate lead.
You can follow all the build up to that game – as well as every other Arsenal first team match – here on Gooner Talk.
So he should it was a horrible challenge.
shocking challenge,
Chris How Positive Are You On Inler
Stick to the topic mate, thanks.
The Inler article is below the match report, I'll happily answer any question for you in there.
Yep, it was a horrible challenge, I can't believe the free kick went Fulham's way either.
Couldnt believe when the ref gave a free kick to Fulham, that refree was shite, he also missed another couple of awful challenges aswell.
chriis i hope ur right about inler
The FA are going from bad to worse.
From ignoring horrible challenges last year no matter what was said, to going over the top about things no one is complaining about especially this season?
i cannot believe wenger has now come out and said buying is not the answer…ahh that man really is starting to piss me off now. we only have one CREATIVE central midfielder in fabregas all the rest are either 'defensive' or neither eg eboue
oh and sticking to the topic….Awful challenge and then he gave the free-kick the other way…crapppy crappy ref..respect???
Totally agree mate, It's a complete over reaction.
the ref was utterly useless overall.
he missed three other clear bookable offences in the first half, fulham exploited this leniency and this should not have been allowed to happen.
we were poor, however if the ref had punished certain fouls correctly then we may well have got something from the game
AFTER THE DUST HAS SETTLED,CAN ANYBODY EXPLAIN WHY APART FROM THE PANTSIL EXCUSE FOR A TACKLE HAS NOBODY PICKED UP ON ALL THE OTHER THUGISH TYPE TACKLES(SORRY THE WAY WE PLAY IN ENGLAND TYPE TACKLE).YES THE FA HAVE LAUNCHED THE RESPECT CAMPAIGN BUT IT APPEARS THE NOBLE EDUARDO STYLE OF TACKLE GOES UNPUNISHED AND NOT COMMENTED ON,ANSWERS PLEASE…………………………………………..
Respect my arse.
I admit to the Arsenal bias but why are referees always against us?
nothing can divert my attention away from how bad we were yesterday. even this tackle, although a horrible one but eboue never gets injured does he.
the refs is not too blame we were just piss poor! that's just arsene's way of diverting attention away from our real problem
and arsene now suddenly saying how new signings will not solve our problem!?
of course it would!!!! i've never been so piss off with wenger before!
when danny murphy brought down eboue exactly how john carew nearly broke alex hlebs leg last year the setanta commentator didnt even question the tackle he just said eboue takes these tackles because he is annoying ,what kind of crap is that ? im not complaining about the result here ,but last year i believed an arsenal player would be seriously hurt ,i would have put money on hleb but it was eduardo ,now referees are givin players the freedom to get carried away on us again!
every sight i go on people are saying chris hows inler ,chris are you sure about inler ? lol seriously chris what would you know ?
We were poor yesterday, but the ref was poorer!
Fulham were allowed to kick us off the pitch, yet when Eboue was scythed down all the commentators were going on about how he almost deserves what he got.
Twats
at least cesc is continuing to commit himself to us which is very good as hes by far our best player and over the last 3 games we have been awful without him
I think Referee's will always favour the opposition teams, they don't like Arsenal, lets face it.
PLEASE CAN WE SPLASH THE CASH DOES ANYBODY REMEMBER WHEN WE BOUGHT PLAYERS AGED OVER 22 PETIT OVERMARS AND LOTS OF OTHERS.YES WE BRING YOUNG TALENT ON BUT THEY DONT END UP IN THE FIRST TEAM AND WHEN THEY DO WE HAVE NO OLDER HEADS TO GUIDE US THRU THE ROUGHWATERS THIS IS OW A SITUATION THAT IS GETTING TO ME,PLEASE CAN WE BUY 1 OR 2 PLAYERS WHO ARE NOT JUST A GOOD PROSPECT PLEASE AW SPEND SOME MONEY WE HAVE NO MIDFIELD……….
Eboue injured would be a blessing in disguise… We KNOW arsene doesn't
Pants has stated that there was no intention of a bad tackle here, he tried to put his foot on the top of the ball and missed, his timing wasn`t so good, was a foul for sure but you gooners are being too hard on a player who tries to play the game honestly.
Perhaps it looks worse than it actually was and you guys will be smarting from the result.
